Keeping the tradition intact, Lucknow won the toss and elected to bowl. Delhi opener Prithvi Shaw breathed fire today, thrashing LSG bowlers all over the park. Shaw made 61 runs in just 34 balls hitting 9 fours and 2 sixes, until Gowtham gave them Lucknow their first breakthrough dismissing Prithvi in the eighth over. Then, Ravi Bishnoi gave Lucknow double blow dismissing David Warner and Rovman Powell in quick succession. After which DC Skipper Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan anchored Delhi’s inning hitting unbeaten 39 and 36 runs respectively. LSG spinners bowled economical spells which was followed by tight death bowling due to which Delhi just put together 149/3 in their 20 overs.

IInd inning

With 150 to chase, Lucknow openers Skipper KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock gave LSG a steady start. In the tenth over Delhi managed its first breakthrough dismissing KL Rahul. But LSG was sailing well above the required run rate. The run chase seemed just a formality, De Kock made a well deserved half century. Lalit Yadav dismissed LSG’s Evin Lewis in the 13th over. Then on, De Knock pushed gears and fired 80 runs in 52 balls untill falling into the prey of Kuldeep Yadav in the 16th over. Delhi bowlers made LSG batters sweat for every run in the end but Krunal Pandya’s late knock and last ball cameo from Ayush Badoni took LSG past the finish line.

Quinton de kock won the Man of the match award for his match winning knock of 80 runs in 52 balls hitting 9 fours and a couple of sixes.
