Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bowl. RR openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal made their way to the crease. Jaiswal was cleaned up by Bumrah in the third over. Then Devdutt Paddikal and Buttler gave RR a sail through in the powerplay. Then Paddikal got dismissed in the sixth over, but Buttler kept the fireworks continuing from the other end. Samson and Buttler kept the scoreboard ticking in the middle overs keeping the run rate over 10. Samson went back to the pavilion making 30, and Hetmyer and Buttler proved to be a wrath for the MI bowlers. Buttler made a marvellous century, the first of the season. RR’s final score was 193/8 in their 20 overs.

IInd inning
With a huge task in hand, Mumbai opened the innings, but Prasidh Krishna gave MI the first blow, taking the huge wicket of Rohit Sharma in the second over. Mumbai’s second wicket fell in the fourth over. Then, Tilak Verma and Kishan built a much needed big partnership between them. Tilak made 61 runs until falling for the googly of Ashwin and Kishan scored 54. After which Mumbai’s inning lost momentum. Chahal gave MI two back to back blows. Pollard too could do much as the asking rate went high and the wickets kept falling. Pollard got dismissed in the very tight last over by Navdeep Saini. Mumbai’s inning couldn’t make it to the mark and ended at 170 for 8 in 20 overs.

Jos Buttler was awarded the Man of match award for his brilliant knock of 100 runs which helped Rajasthan put up a huge total against Mumbai.
