Umme Ahmed Shishir, Shakib Al Hasan’s wife, has revealed why the all-rounder went unsold in the IPL mega auction. This was in Bengaluru in February 2022. Shakib Al Hasan, a star Bangladesh all-rounder, had set a base price of INR 2 crore for the auction. He was also one of 12 players with the same base price who went unsold at the Indian Premier League 2022 super auction. It came as a surprise to many supporters that Shakib did not get selected. Given his wealth of experience and superb batting and spin bowling abilities.
In the Indian Premier League, he has played 71 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad. And Kolkata Knight Riders, scoring 793 runs at an average of 19.8 and a strike rate of 124.5. He has also taken 63 IPL wickets at an average of 29.2 and an economy rate of 7.43.
Umme Ahmed Shishir, Shakib’s wife, issued a message on Facebook. This was slamming the detractors and claiming that the Bangladesh all-rounder had been approached by a few of teams before of the auction.
She went on to say that he informed the franchisees that he would not be available. This is for the entire Indian Premier League 2022 season. This is also the reason behind the franchises not buying him at the Indian Premier League 2022 mega auction.
Shakib Al Hasan’s wife revealed why he went unsold
“Before you get too excited a Couple of teams contacted him directly ahead of time if he can be available for the full season, but unfortunately he can’t due to the Sri Lanka series! This is why he did not get picked which is not a big deal, it is not the end, there’s always next year!”
