Syed Khaleel Ahmed made his IPL debut in 2018 for SRH. After a phenomenal season with Hyderabad, he was selected for the Indian national team. The Indian team was struggling to find a genuine left-arm pacer and Khaleel emerged as an ideal option. However, he could not leave a mark at the international level and was dropped from India’s scheme of things in 2019. His performances in the IPL, too, took a beating and he lost his position in the SRH’s XI as well. He was a part of SRH till 2021 but never featured in the starting XI continuously.

After going through a poor patch, Khaleel wouldn’t have expected this amount at the auction. But DC have indicated that they are eager to go after left-arm pacers. As of now, they have Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya, and Khaleel as their left-arm pacers. Khaleel would hope he gets more game time at Delhi Capitals.

DC joined Mumbai Indians in the race to buy Khaleel and after a fierce bidding war between the teams, Khaleel was eventually bought by DC. The Capitals would hope their investment in the left-arm pacer pays off.
