Punjab kings retained players list 2022: Name, Price, Captain and more

After the new set of rules regarding the auction of IPL 2022 introduced by BCCI came into effect, all the franchises will get equal opportunities to choose their preferred players. This is because a certain specific franchise can only retain a maximum of 4 players and no more than that. There have been many speculations regarding the choice of players that Punjab Kings would be more likely to retain or release this year.

(2) Arshdeep Singh – 4 Crore

Arshdeep Singh is an uncapped Indian cricketer and a left-arm pacer and played domestically from Punjab. He made his debut in T20I by playing his first match for Kings XI against Rajasthan Royals at Mohali. Thenceforth, he has been a part of Kings XI/Punjab Kings and has played immensely well. Besides, in the last 35 matches of the Indian Premiere League, he has taken a total of 42 wickets with an economy of 8.13. He was the second choice of Punjab Kings and was retained for INR 4 Crore.

(1) Mayank Agarwal – 14 Crore

Mayank Agarwal is an Indian cricketer who plays as a right-handed top-order batsman. Also, his first international match for Indian Cricket Team was against Australia at MCG. He has been playing for Punjab in IPL, be it Kings XI or Punjab Kings, since 2018. Punjab Kings has retained Agarwal in 2022 for a total of INR 14 Crore.

Furthermore, assumptions have been made that Mayank Agarwal may lead Punjab Kings this year as the skipper of the team, but the team hasn’t made any official statements. As Punjab Kings have only retained two players, currently they have a total of INR 72 Crore player purse remaining.
In addition, Punjab Kings released KL Rahul in this auction which came as a shocker for fans as he was the skipper of the team. Though Anil Kumble later on explained that the franchise and team wanted to retain Rahul but it was his own decision to not play for Punjab Kings and go back into the auction.
