DC vs SRH: SRH stitch an impressive comeback!

And Delhi Capitals have collapsed once again from a formidable position. Sunrisers Hyderabad have clinched vital two points there. They started the innings by dismissing the dangerous Warner for a duck, but then DC added a 112-run partnership between Mitch Marsh and Phil Salt. The duo looked like they’d take the game away, but shortly after the halfway stage the wickets began to tumble. At the end 197 proved sufficient once wickets started to stumble. SRH win by 9 runs.

Pandey departs!

Abhishek Sharma beats Pandey with some turn and a easy stumping for Klassen. Pandey was charging down even before the ball was delivered. Pandey is gone for a solitary run.

Akeal Hosien has removed Mitch Marsh. DC losing wickets in cluster once again! Marsh hit the previous ball for six and tried to replicate it. He fails and only manages to skies this which swirls and falls at extra cover where Markram catches it. The pitch is slowing down and DC have two new batters at the crease. They need 69 runs from 36 balls.

Salt gone!

A good low catch by Mayank Markande and he has broken the 112-run stand. Just as we were prasing the partnership. Phill Salt departs but not before playing an impactful knock smashing 59 runs in just 35 balls. He has given DC a great chance of chasing this! Manish Pnadey joins Marsh at the crease. DC 114/2 after 12 overs.

50 for Marsh!

Mitch Marsh has notched up his third IPL fifty. He did it with the bowl and is now doing it with the bat. He had a below-average season before this inning, but he is making for it now! The show must go on for DC!

DC vs SRH: Salt Marsh partnership is now past hundred!

Delhi Capitals are looking good. They have attacked the pacers and the spinners. DC have ticked a massive box here – of keeping the tempo high after the powerplay. Phill Salt has brought-up his maiden IPL fifty. Mitch Marsh is one the verge of getting one. The partnership is now past hundred and threatning to look dangerous! DC 105/1 after 10 overs. Need 93 runs more!

DC vs SRH: Powerplay Completed!

Mitch Marsh and Phill Salt have put together a 50 run-stand and have recovered well after loosing Warner early. It was Phill Salt who started the attack and now Marsh has joined in. Salt has ensured DC don’t feel Warner’s absence. The Salt Marsh duo has taken the powerplay for 57 runs. SRH were 62/2 at the end of the powerplay and DC are 57/1. Pretty much neck-to-neck at this stage. DC would hope the momentum doesn’t break in the middle phase.

Bhuvi strikes in the first over!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has struck gold! He removes the dangerous David Warner for a duck on the second ball of the innings. The ball was just outside off-stump and swinging away from Warner. He plays at it and chops it on the stumps! DC lose Warner without a run on the board! A perfect start for Sunrisers Hyderabad!

Impact Player(SRH): T Natrajan comes in for Rahul Tripathi!

Impact Player(DC): Sarfaraz Khan comes in for Ishant Sharma!

DC vs SRH: SRH finish with 197!

Two Superb knocks is all that SRH needed to pile up 197/6 in their 20 overs. First it was the young Abhishek Sharma who got the ball rolling, and then after his dismissal Klassen replaced him at the crease and provided a strong finish and also smashed his maiden IPL fifty in the process. Unlike Abhishek, Klassen found an ally in Samad and the duo stitched a 53-run stand after being 109/5 at one stage.

The target for Delhi Capitals is 198 runs from 120 balls. The side chasing has a 100% record this season, but the highest total chased at Delhi this season was 173 by Mumbai Indians. The wicket is also one the slower side and the ball is keeping a bit low. Delhi Capitals would need to maximize the powerplay and also keep the momentum going throughout the innings to chase this. Will they succeed? or will SRH defend this? The second-innings coming-up!

The set batter is gone!

Abhishek Sharma departs after playing a fantastic knock. He scored 67 runs off just 36 balls with 12 fours and 1 six. Axar drops this full and wide and Abhishek goes for the slog but mistimes this. Warner running in from long-on takes a well-judged catch. SRH have a healthy scoring rate but have now lost half their side for 109 runs. They are 109/5 after 12 overs (CRR: 9.08).

DC vs SRH: Marsh removes Markram & Brook at the halfway mark!

Mitch Marsh has picked the captain Markram and Harry Brook in a span of three deliveries. Marsh claims his third wicket of the night and he is on fire!! First gets Markram with a short ball which is pulled straight to deep mid-wicket. And then dismisses Harry Brook for a 2-ball duck with another short delivery. A half-hearted pull by Brook and Axar Patel grabs another catch at mid-wicket. A double-wicket maiden for Marsh and SRH are 83/4 at the halfway stage.

50 for Abhishek Sharma!

Abhishek Sharma gets to his fifty in just 25 balls. He slog-sweeps Kuldeep Yadav over deep mid-wicket to reach his fifty. Abhishek is looking in sublime touch, and the visitors would want him to carry on and convert this fifty into a big score. Also Nortje dropped a sitter at long-off on. DC could have had Markram’s wicket but the dropped catch means he gets another life.

DC vs SRH: Powerplay done!

Sunrisers are off to a flying start, thanks to Abhishek Sharma. There is no stopping him tonight. Back to open the innings and making a serious impact at the top. He has raced off to 43 off 23 balls. Let me remind you we are playing on a surface without a grass-cover, which means it is a dry wicket and might slow down as the game progresses. Considering all this Abhishek Sharma is playing a gem and has given a very solid start. SRH 62/2 after 6 overs.

Marsh strikes in his first over!

Rahul Tripathi was looking good tonight but departs for 10. Another faliure for him, hasn’t lived up to his reputation this season. Shimmies down the wicket to Marsh and the bowler is smart enough to bang it short. He goes for a slap and mistimes, Pandey pouches the catch at cover!

Mayank Departs!

Banged in short by Ishant, Mayank goes for a hook by taking his eyes off the ball and gets a top edge. Fairly easy catch for Phill Salt and SRH lose a wicket early. Ishant strikes first blood for DC. SRH 28/1 after 3 overs.

Build-Up..

The 40th game of the Indian Premier League 2024 will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad lock horns.

The Capitals have won two of their first seven games. They are at the 10th position on the points table. The Sunrisers have also won two of their last seven games and are one spot above the Capitals.

The Capitals are on a two-game winning run and will want to extend it to three. Their most recent victory was a seven-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. DC batted first and scored 144 runs for the cost of nine wickets in 20 overs.  Sunrisers, on the other hand, have already lost three in a row and will be looking to rebound.

The Delhi surface has traditionally been a fast bowler’s ally, but the shorter dimensions of the stadium will aid batters in their endeavour to score a huge total. The captains have decided to chase in Delhi and have been successful on all three times this season.
