Day 1 was all about Mayank Agarwal brilliant ton and a controversial LBW decision of Virat Kohli. The Indian opener Mayank Agarwal, who came into the match under some cloud though justified his selection, on a pitch which isn’t the easiest to bat. Ajaz Patel spun web around the Indians. India were already in a comfortable position at the start of the day play. If New Zealand can strike early, the new ball can also do wonders. We will see what happened on India vs NZ 2nd Test Day 2.
First Session
It was quite of a balanced session. But India lost Wriddhiman Saha and Ravichandran Ashwin off consecutive deliveries and it was also at the start of the game. Ajaz has been turning it square, and has picked up all 6 wickets until now. Mayank was brilliant from the start of the match. But Axar Patel also made a good partnership with Mayank Agarwal and ensured that runs keep coming. This pair has helped India recover after suffering a double blow in Ajaz’s first over.

Second Session
And India got all out in the second session after scoring 325 runs. But history was created at Wankhede by a Mumbai born bowler. Ajaz Patel, remember the name. He has taken all the 10 wickets India has lost. Incredible achievement from Ajaz Patel. Barring Southee, he hardly found any support from the other end. But Ajaz Patel kept bowling non-stop and accounted for all the 10 Indian wickets. It is the best bowling figures by any visiting spinner in India in a Test inning. He joined the elite list of 10 wickets in an innings. Only 2 bowlers achieved this fate before this match. But now, Ajaz Patel joined Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.
When New Zealand got to bat, it was a brilliant show by the Indian bowlers.  If the momentum was firmly with New Zealand at the innings break, it didn’t take long for the Indians to respond. Mohammed Siraj struck thrice in quick succession and then the spinners took over, each of them accounting for a wicket. What a session of Test Cricket!

Third Session
And New Zealand couldn’t improve their batting in the final session also. They got bundled out for just 62 runs. This is the lowest total against India. It was a flop show with the bat from New Zealand batters. New Zealand missed Kane Williamson very much. The high of Patel’s 10-for, was soon brought crashing down with a plethora of wickets to dismantle the Kiwi line-up. India have a lead of 263 runs but excitedly India haven’t enforced a follow on. They batted again.
The hosts didn’t enforce the follow-on and decided to fortify their lead. Pujara, batting at the top due to Gill’s injury, was positive in his approach. Mayank, meanwhile, has got another start. India in the driver’s seat and this Test is progressing at a rapid pace.
What a Test Match this is turning to be! Ajaz Patel created history by becoming only the third player ever to pick a 10-fer in international cricket. Even before the world finished praising Ajaz’s feat, the Indian bowlers skittled out their opponents. This is the review of India vs NZ 2nd Test Day 2.
