Firing a head coach isn’t something a team wants to do unless it becomes the need of the hour. You know that the new one coming in would bring in new ideas, strategies & everything previously mustered in the past could go down the drain. 1. Kliff Kingsbury
The Arizona Cardinals had to show the exit door to their head coach Kliff Kingsbury after they finished at the bottom AFC West table. The sacking of the head coach came on January 9th 2024, the same year in which he had signed a six-year contract extension. 2. Lovie Smith
It was just hours after the season finale on 8th January where Texans had beaten the Colts, Lovie Smith learned that he has been fired. The Texans are already going through a tough phase as far as head coaches are concerned. Smith became the third head coach to be fired in three consecutive seasons for the Texans. 3. Nathaniel Hackett
Nathaniel Hackett was hired at the beginning of NFL 2022 season at the expense of the former head coach Vic Fangio. The Broncos head coach Hackett lasted only mid-season with his final game on Christmas day where they lost to the Rams with the score line of 51-14. The following day Broncos announced that they have parted ways with Hackett making him the third head coach to be fired mid-season. In November 2022, in every major category, Broncos’ offense ranked near the bottom resulting in Hackett’s departure.
4. Frank Reich
Frank Reich’s time at the Indianapolis Colts came to an end after four & a half seasons, signing with the Colts in 2018. Although he led the Colts to playoffs twice but three straight losses mid-season of the NFL 2022 season became the reason for his sacking on 7th November 2022. 5. Matt Rhule
The Head coach Matt Rhule was sacked by the Panthers just five games into the season due to consecutive home losses to the Cardinals & the 49ers. Matt had signed a seven-year contract with the Panthers back in January 2020 & left the franchise on 10th October 2022 with four more years left to his contract. The sacking of the head coach Rhule was accompanied by the firing of defensive coordinator Phil snow as well. The ugly loss to the 49ers where Panthers were always trailing behind & for the second time in consecutive weeks were held to less than five yards per play resulted in such a severe change in coaching staff.
