The 2010 Padma Shri receiver, born in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu started his career in the year 1992. Furthermore, he also achieved a podium position in his first-ever race in Formula Maruti. In the Formula Nippon F3000 Championship, in 2001, he was among the top 10 finishers. The Jordan Formula One team signed him on 1 February 2005, making him the first-ever Indian F1 racing driver. The two times GP2 Series race winner was born on 19 January 1984 in Madras, Tamil Nadu. Besides, he also lifted the Formula Asia championship in 2001 and five years later he went on to win the inaugural Formula V6 Asia by Renault Series. His best finish came in 2012, finishing 6th in 24 Hours Of Le Mans. Karun was also seen in the debut season of Formulae E for Mahindra Racing in the season 2014-15. The former Team MRF driver has delivered to the big stages on many occasions. Also, he is the first Indian to win the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship not once but thrice. For instance, he started his career as in racing motorbikes but soon gained interest in car rallies. In 2007, he secured the National Rally Championship after his name. For his impressive performances he also received the Arjuna Award in 2019.
The Mumbai-born racer is leading his way to becoming India’s best F1 racer. Jehan created history in 2020 when he became the first-ever Indian to win the Formula 2 race held in Bahrain. Currently the 24-year-old is racing for the Carlin team and has received 6 podium finishes till now.
With a race win percentage of more than 27% Sailesh has achieved 16 wins in his career to date. First, he became the first-ever Indian to compete in the British GT Championship and later became the first Indian to steal a win at the British GT Championship. Moreover, in 2010 he registered victories at Volkswagen Polo Cup India and MRF Racing Challenge – Touring Cars respectively.
