Rudiger is on the move

Chelsea are set to lose their defensive talisman Antonio Rudiger at the end of the season. It happened after the club and the player were unable to agree on an extension on his contract which allows him to leave for free this summer. Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the defender will leave following the club’s clash against West Ham this past weekend. One of the most reliable journalists, Fabrizio Romano stated that the defender will be joining soon to be La Liga champions Real Madrid.

According to reports, the 29-year-old would sign an impressive 4- year contract, close to what he was initially demanding from Chelsea with Madrid offering 200,000 pounds per week alongside an undisclosed signing bonus. Carlo Ancelotti already has the likes of Eder Militao and David Alaba at his disposal. However, apart from Nacho the Spanish side remains thin on defensive options.

With Rudiger’s arrival, Madrid has multiple contenders for their defensive lineup ahead of next season. The German was one of Chelsea’s standout performers last campaign as the blue’s lifted the Champions League beating Real on their way to the final.
