Chelsea looking to sign Aubameyang, reports.

Aubameyang to replace Lukaku?

According to various reports in the English media, there is a surprising rumour that Chelsea are closely looking at the situation of Pierre Emrick Aubameyang and they are studying the possibility of making a bid for the striker as he is now at the top of their transfer targets. Aubameyang was signed in January by Barcelona from Arsenal on a free transfer and on a long-term deal that’ll run until 2025 but with a clause in it which enables the La Liga side to terminate his contract in 2023. Since his arrival, he has had an incredible impact in La Liga as he scored 11 goals in just 17 games for the Spanish giants.

Now Aubameyang is 33 years old and if Chelsea does indeed come with an offer, that would probably be the last chance that Barcelona would get to get any sort of transfer fee for him. The La Liga side have an abundance of attacking options with the likes of Lewandowski, Memphis, Raphinha, Ansu Fati and many more in the squad and so if Barcelona sells the striker they have a lot of options to replace him. His departure could even change the situation of Memphis at the club and he might end up staying instead of leaving.

Aubameyang gave a lot to Xavi’s team last season, whether it was from the start or of the bench, the quality and depth that he contributes to is simply sensational and that’s why it would at least take a decent offer for Barcelona to at least think to sell the striker. So it would be interesting to see how this transfer saga develops and if the Catalan team decides to sell the striker how much would they ask in return from Chelsea.
