First Session

gill registered a brisk fifty

It was the foggy morning in Kanpur. New Zealand fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee were brilliant in the starting. They swing the new SG ball. Southee and Jamieson were a treat to watch with the brand new SG ball. Mayank Agarwal was looking rusty and Kyle Jamieson took his wicket in the first session. But India scored well in the first session despite the loss of Mayank. Shubman Gill took the spinners on and raised his fourth Test fifty. Pujara was there for company using the feet to the spinners. Overall a pretty good session that. 29 overs were bowled in the first session and India scored 82 runs with the loss of 1 wicket. This session was absolutely goes in India’s pocket.

Second Session

India VS New Zealand: 1st Test Day 1

After a solid start from India in the first session, New Zealand need to bounce back. And they did exactly the same thing. Their pacers took back in the game and put India under pressure with crucial wickets. Set batsman Shubman Gill departed in thee first over after Lunch. The wicket of Gill in the first over after lunch set the tone and the Black Caps never really loosened their grip over the Indian batting. Pujara and Rahane both got starts, the latter in particular looked in good touch but neither were able to kick on. NZ’s bowlers were disciplined and used the surface well. 27 overs were bowled in this session. India scored 72 runs with the loss of 3 wickets. Definitely a session that belonged to New Zealand.

Third Session

India VS New Zealand: 1st Test Day 1

Debutant Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra have to do a huge task if they want to take India to a competitive total. And the duo did the same thing. They made an unbeaten partnership of 113 runs with Shreyas Iyer a half century on his debut Test Match. He has the opportunity tomorrow to convert this into a hundred. The approach from Shreyas Iyer was brilliant. He was bold in his approach. He played attacking cricket after being set on the crease. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja wasn’t shy in punishing the loose balls. And in the last session, 28 overs were bowled and India scored 104 runs. In addition, India didn’t lose any wickets in the last session. Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer played well to take India out from the pressure situation.

And day 1 in India vs New Zealand 1st Test goes to India. At one point of time, India were 145/4. But the duo of Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja ensured that India didn’t lose any wickets in the final session and took the home side to 258/4 at the end of the day’s play. It was shocking to see that New Zealand adopted defensive technique in the field in the last session. They opened the fields and runs were leaking. That wasn’t expected from a quality side like New Zealand.
