The Indian Super League, better known as ISL, which is currently in its 8th edition, has seen some amazing attackers throughout the years, and they have scored a lot of goals across all the editions. Goalkeepers, on the other hand, have stepped up to the plate several times. Because clubs prefer to use their foreign quota on outfield players, Indian goalkeepers have stepped up and put in some outstanding performances. 10. Laxmikant Kattimani* – 12 Clean Sheets

Laxmikant Kattimani made his ISL debut in 2014 with FC Goa. He was Zico’s first-choice goalkeeper in 2015, and he came close to winning the ISL title. In the final, he saved two penalties, but FC Goa suffered a bitter 2-3 defeat thanks to two late goals by Chennaiyin. He is currently playing with Hyderabad FC.

9. Mohammad Nawaz* – 12 Clean Sheets

Mohammad Nawaz is at No. 9 with 12 clean sheets from 52 appearances. He was a key member of FC Goa’s journey to the Hero ISL final in the 2018-19 season. In addition to this, he also assisted the FC Goa team in their great campaigns in 2018-19 and 2019-20, which included winning the Super Cup and the League Winners’ Shield. Ahead of the 2021-22 ISL, he left FC Goa to join Mumbai City FC.

8. Karanjit Singh – 13 Clean Sheets

The two-time ISL winner made his debut in 2015 with Chennaiyin. He made four appearances that season and was part of the trophy-winning campaign for Chennaiyin FC. Karanjit won his second league title for Chennaiyin in the 2017-18 season in which he kept seven clean sheets, a joint-record for the season. He was given the combined role of player and goalkeeping coach after the 2018-19 season.

7. Subhasish Roy* – 14 Clean Sheets

Subhasish Roy was a member of the ISL 2014 champions, ATK FC. Since then, he has played with Delhi Dynamos FC, FC Goa, Kerala Blasters FC, and Jamshedpur FC. The highly experienced keeper currently plays and captains for NorthEast United FC. With 14 clean sheets from 58 matches, he is in the 7th spot in the list of the top 10 goalkeepers with the most clean sheets in the Indian Super League.

6. Vishal Kaith* – 19 Clean Sheets

Vishal Kaith is at no. 6 in the list with 19 clean sheets from 69 appearances in the ISL. He made his ISL debut season with FC Pune City in the 2017-18 season and delivered an excellent performance. He kept 7 clean sheets (joint-most for the season) in 17 matches. The 25-year-old signed with Chennaiyin FC ahead of the 2019-20 season and played a key role in the team’s runner-up finish.

5. TP Rehenesh* – 25 CLEAN SHEETS

In 90 total appearances in the ISL, TP Rehenesh has 25 clean sheets. TP Rehenesh debuted in the Hero ISL in 2014 with NorthEast United FC. He had a spectacular 2015 season, recording 47 saves (the most of any goalkeeper that year) and four clean sheets (the most of any Indian goalkeeper that year). After that, he played for Kerala Blasters FC, before joining Jamshedpur FC ahead of the 2020–21 ISL season.

4. Subrata Paul – 28 CLEAN SHEETS

The veteran Indian football player has represented many clubs throughout his ISL career, which includes Mumbai City FC, Jamshedpur FC, Hyderabad FC, NorthEast United, and SC East Bengal. In the 2017-18 season, the Arjuna Awardee won the Golden Glove trophy, maintaining seven clean sheets (the joint-most of any goalkeeper that year) in 18 appearances with Jamshedpur FC.

Subrata Paul is a very experienced goalkeeper and is second in terms of the most appearances by a goalkeeper in the league. He is only behind Amrinder Singh in that manner. A total of 28 clean sheets in 95 matches put the 35-year old in the 4th spot of goalkeepers with the most clean sheets in the ISL.

3. Amrinder Singh* – 30 CLEAN SHEETS

Coming at no. 3, one of the best and most experienced ISL goalkeepers with 104 appearances is Amrinder Singh. The Indian international made his ISL debut with ATK FC in 2015. Amrinder won the Golden Glove award in his debut season with Mumbai City FC after keeping five clean sheets in six games in the ISL 2016. The following season, 2017-18, he made 59 saves (most by a goalkeeper that season). He continued this excellent form, keeping seven clean sheets in 19 matches in the 2018-19 campaign.

In the 2020–21 ISL, he was one of Mumbai City FC’s top performers, keeping 10 clean sheets in 23 games as they won both the League Winners’ Shield and the ISL title. He will definitely look to add more clean sheets to his record this season with ATKMB.

2. Arindam Bhattacharja* – 30 CLEAN SHEETS

The 32-year-old goalkeeper has the same number of clean sheets as Amrinder Singh, but it only took him 85 appearances to attain the milestone. He has featured for FC Pune City, Mumbai City, Bengaluru FC, ATK FC, ATK Mohun Bagan, and SC East Bengal in the ISL.

With ATK FC, he won the Hero ISL trophy in the 2019-20 season. The following season, Arindam won the Golden Glove trophy with ATK Mohun Bagan during the Hero ISL 2020-21 season after leading his club to the final.

1. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu* – 31 CLEAN SHEETS

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu of Bengaluru FC is the ISL’s all-time top player with the most clean sheets. GSS is the only Indian player to have appeared in the UEFA Europa League, having played for Stabaek FC in Norway. He made his ISL debut in the 2017-18 season. He was a runner-up in the ISL and a winner in the Hero Super Cup with the Blues that season.

The Indian national team’s first-choice goalkeeper eventually won the ISL trophy the next season and also won the Golden Glove award. He followed that up with even more great performances in the 2019–20 season, earning him the Golden Glove award once more. He managed to keep 11 clean sheets in 19 matches that season.
