The Indian Super League, better known as ISL, which is currently in its 8th edition, has seen some amazing strikers throughout the years. While there are a lot of foreign players in the ISL’s top scorers’ history, there are also some Indian players who left their mark as some of the deadliest attackers in the ISL. Here are the top 10 players with the most goals In Indian Super League.

10. Igor Angulo* – 22 Goals

The former Athletic Bilbao player was the top scorer and golden boot winner last season (2020–21) with 14 goals in 21 matches with FC Goa. He is currently playing with Mumbai City FC and is in excellent form this season too, with 10 goal contributions (8 goals + 2 assists) in 11 games this season.

9. Jeje Lalpekhlua – 24 Goals

‘The Mizo Sniper’ is Chennaiyin FC’s leading goal scorer in the ISL. He is also the second-highest Indian goalscorer in the Indian Super League, only behind the one and only Sunil Chhetri. He has 24 goals in 76 matches, which puts him 9th on the list of most goals in the ISL all time.

8. Hugo Boumous* – 24 Goals

The 26-year-old French midfielder is at number eight with 24 goals in 67 ISL appearances. He had a remarkable 2019–20 season with FC Goa in which he scored 11 and assisted another 10, for a total of 21 goal contributions in only 15 matches. After such a successful season, he was signed by Mumbai City FC ahead of the ISL 2020–21 season, in which he helped them win their first ISL title with 3 goals and 7 assists. He is currently playing with ATK Mohun Bagan.

7. Nerijus Valskis* – 25 Goals

Valskis made his ISL debut during the 2019-20 season with Chennaiyin FC and went on to score 15 goals and bag 6 assists in 20 matches. He was the winner of the Golden Boot award that season, which helped Chennaiyin reach the final.

The Lithuanian striker has returned to Chennaiyin FC after nearly a year and a half at Jamshedpur FC.

6. Iain Hume – 28 Goals

The 2016 ISL winner is in 6th position with 29 goals in 69 matches in the ISL.

Hume made his ISL debut in 2014 with Kerala Blasters FC and played the next two seasons with Atlético de Kolkata, winning the 2016 ISL season before returning to Kerala Blasters in the 2017–18 ISL season. After that, in the next ISL season, which was his last, he played for FC Pune City.

5. Marcelinho * – 33 Goals

In his debut season in the ISL 2016, Marcelo Pereira, also known as Marcelinho, scored 10 goals in 15 matches with Delhi Dynamos FC. He was the top scorer and winner of the golden boot in that ISL season. In the 2017-18 season, he was the top goal contributor for FC Pune City during their incredible run to the semis. The Brazilian has since then played for Hyderabad FC, Odisha FC, and ATKMB.

4. Roy Krishna* – 33 Goals

The 34-year-old striker is next on the list with 33 goals (ranked higher than Marcelinho since Roy Krishna has only played 53 matches compared to Marcelinho, who has managed to score 33 goals in 79 matches).

He was a key player in ATKMB’s league triumph in the 2019-20 season and was their top goalscorer with 15 goals. In the next season, he guided the ATK Mohun Bagan team to the 2020-21 Hero ISL final, scoring 14 and assisting 8 goals that season.

Roy Krishna is currently one of the best strikers in the ISL. In the current 2021-22 ISL season, he is directly involved in 8 goals in 9 matches for ATK Mohun Bagan.

3. Bartholomew Ogbeche* – 44 Goals

The Nigerian striker is considered one of the deadliest finishers in the ISL. He has scored 44 goals in 67 appearances in the ISL. He has played for NorthEast United FC and Kerala Blasters FC in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, respectively. Ogbeche was part of the Mumbai City FC team that won their maiden Hero ISL trophy in the 2020-21 season.

Currently playing in his 4th season in the ISL, he is leading the golden boot race for the ongoing 2021-22 ISL season with 9 goals in 9 matches and has been a key player for Hyderabad FC this season.

2. Sunil Chhetri* – 47 Goals

In the number 2 spot is none other than ‘Captain Fantastic’ himself, who has scored 47 goals in 105 appearances for Mumbai City FC and Bengaluru FC combined. Along with Jeje Lalpekhlua (9th in all-time top scorers in the ISL), he is the only Indian to feature in this list of the ten highest scorers in the history of the ISL.

Sunil Chettri holds the record for the most goals by an Indian player in a single season of the ISL when he scored 14 goals in the 2017-18 season with Bengaluru FC. In 2018-19, he led the Blues to the ISL title, and he was also the team’s leading scorer in 2019–20.

The Bengaluru FC skipper is currently only one goal away from the top spot of leading goalscorer in the history of the ISL, behind Coro, and will most likely overtake him this season. 

1. Ferran Corominas– 48 Goals

Ferran Corominas, also known as Coro, is currently the top goalscorer in ISL history with 48 goals in just 57 matches. During his time in the ISL, in which he played 3 seasons with FC Goa, he had 64 goal contributions (48 goals + 16 assists) in just 57 appearances. He also has the highest ratio of goals per game in this list of the 10 players with the most goals in the ISL, with an incredible number of 0.84.

Coro won back-to-back golden boot awards in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons by scoring 18 and 16 goals in the respective seasons and almost won it again for the third time in the following 2019-20 season. He scored 14 goals and assisted on four that season and missed the award by just a single goal.

The 38-year-old Spaniard left FC Goa after that season to join third-tier Spanish football league side Atletico Baleares.
