5 Best Goals in Indian Super League 2021-22

From Javi Hernandez’s strike direct from the corner against SC East Bengal to Alvaro Vazquez’s incredible volley against Mumbai City FC, the current edition (2021–22) of the Indian Super League has seen some insane goals. Here is a list of the 5 best goals in the Indian Super League 2021-22.

The 5 Best Goals in ISL 2021-22 Are:

5. Javi Hernandez (Odisha FC vs SC East Bengal):

Odisha FC faced SC East Bengal in the thirteenth match of the ISL 2021-22 season at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco, Goa on November 30, 2021. The game ended with the Juggernauts winning 6-4.

In the 43rd minute of the game, Javi Hernandez missed a crucial chance. Jerry found Javi in the middle, but his right-footed shot from the centre of the box was too high. Javi, who had just missed an excellent chance a minute prior, made amends before the halftime break. He scored a spectacular Olympic goal to put Odisha in the lead. The former ATK Mohun Bagan player scored directly from the corner kick, curling the ball into the net.

Javi’s goal helped Odisha win a 10 goal thriller match by 6-4.

4. Alvaro Vazquez (Mumbai City FC vs Kerala Blasters FC):

On December 14, 2021, Mumbai City FC took on Kerala Blasters at the Fatorda Stadium. Kerala won by 3 goals to none (3-0), which included an absolute screamer from Alvaro Vazquez.

In the 47th minute, just after halftime, Vazquez produced a magical moment. Vazquez hammered a stunning volley into the top corner with confidence after Jeakson Singh supplied a lovely cross from the right side to him on the edge of the box. Despite Mohammad Nawaz’s best efforts, the ball was unable to be stopped.

3. Hernan Santana (FC Goa vs NorthEast United):

In just the second minute of the game, NorthEast United FC took the lead over FC Goa thanks to a free-kick goal by Hernan Santana. The referee booked Leander D’Cunha for bringing down the goalscorer himself, Hernan Santana, just outside the box. As everyone else expected NEUFC to try for a cross from the subsequent free-kick, Santana hammered the shot on goal. The ball pinged in off the crossbar as the 31-year-old Spaniard curled in a delightful free-kick at the near post. FC Goa goalkeeper Dheeraj Moirangthem was helpless and had no chance. This goal is surely one of the 5 Best Goals in the Indian Super League 2021-22 so far.

Despite Hernan Santana’s beautiful free-kick, NorthEast United FC was held to a 1-1 tie by FC Goa at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on January 14, 2022.

2. Greg Stewart (Kerala Blasters FC vs Jamshedpur FC)

On December 26, 2021, Greg Stewart scored a spectacular goal, but Jamshedpur FC was held to a 1-1 draw by Kerala Blasters.

In the 13th minute, Harmanjot Khabra (Kerala) hacked down Boris Singh on the inside left channel. Stewart curled a left-footer past the Kerala wall to beat the goalie. The ball ended up in the back of the net after hitting the crossbar.

The Scottish forward is currently in excellent form for Jamshedpur with 11 goal contributions (5 goals + 6 assists) in 11 matches this season.

1. Adrian Luna (Kerala Blasters FC vs FC Goa)

Vazquez started it all with a diving attempt to keep the ball in before Pereyra Diaz laid it off for Luna to finish. Nobody anticipated Luna to make such a move. The Uruguayan decided to try Dheeraj in goal from around 35 yards away, and the ball took off and got enough of a direction to go above and past the Goa goalkeeper, hitting the inside of the upright and into the goal. With such a wonderful effort the goal is surely among the 5 best goals in ISL 2021-22.

In an exciting Indian Super League encounter that ended 2-2 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on 2 Jan 2022, Adrian Luna’s amazing strike could not give Kerala Blasters FC the victory. The Blasters took the lead in the 10th minute through Jeakson Singh before Luna made it 2-0 in the 20th minute with a wonder goal. Kerala appeared to be in control until FC Goa fought back to make it 2-1 in the 24th minute thanks to a Jorge Ortiz goal before Edu Bedia scored from a corner in the 38th minute.
