With the wicket of Dushmantha Chameera in the match between RR and LSG, Yuzvendra Chahal picked up 150 IPL wickets and also becomes the joint third highest wicket taker in IPL as a spin bowler and 5th bowler overall. LSG won the toss and decided to bowl. Rajasthan openers played a steady inning in the first five overs. LSG got its first breakthrough when Avesh Khan rattled the middle stump of Jos Buttler in the sixth over. Next in, RR skipper Sanju Samson who couldn’t do much as he departed for 13 in the ninth over. Next over Krishnappa Gowtham gave a double blow as he dismissed the well-settled Devdutt Paddikal for 29 and R. Van der for 4. Then, RR’s innings was forged by the duo of Simron Hetmyer and Ravi Ashwin. Simron hit unbeaten 59 in 36 balls, hitting 6 sixes and one four. Meanwhile, Ravi Ashwin became the first player in the history of IPL to retire himself out as he struggled to middle the ball. As Riyan Parag hit a last minute six to reach 165/6.

IInd inning
With 166 to win, LSG openers unfolded the innings but not too well. KL Rahul was out for a golden duck on the first ball by Trent Boult. Second ball and Boult dismisses Krishnappa Gowtham for a golden duck too. Jason Holder, making 8 runs departed in the fourth over, LSG were 14/3. Then Deepak Hooda and De Kock from the other end got the scoreboard ticking for Lucknow somehow. But Hooda departed in the tenth over. Constant falling of wickets at peak moments disrupted Lucknow’s run chase. But somehow at the end Krunal Pandya and Marcus Stoinis incredibly built a partnership from nowhere. Stoinis made unbeaten 38 in 17 balls and with Krunal’s 22 of 15 took LSG very close to target but couldn’t pull it off as RR won by 3 runs.
