The opening batsmen of Afghanistan Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Usman Ghani put up a partnership of the first 13 runs until Netherlands’ bowler Vivian Kingma got Gurbaz out for 13 runs where it was clearly seen in the review system that the ball hit the stumps. Shortly after, Ghani loses his wicket to Philippe Boissevain. But the Afghanistan batting was dominated by the middle order players Rahmat Shah and skipper Hashmutullah Shahidi who scored 70 and 73 runs respectfully. The rest of the batters added a total of 31 runs and the total of Afghanistan reached 222/8 in the first innings. Brandon Glover got 3 wickets of Afghanistan including that of the skipper, Shahidi.
Second innings
Afghanistan bowler Musa Ahmed bowled a length ball and threw it wide at the stumps leading to the batter Yamin Ahmadzai to hit it causing Shahidullah to get a catch and gets out for 11 runs. It was a one person show for the Netherlands where their other opening batter Scott Edwards scored 68 runs, followed by the middle-order batter and the skipper of Netherlands, Pieter Seelaar with 32 runs. Netherlands got all out for 186 runs with 2 overs to spare. The Afghanistan spin bowler Rashid Khan showed his brilliance in the second innings by getting 3 wickets of Netherlands. Not far behind were Yamin Ahmadzai and Mujeeb Ur Rahman with 2 wickets each. All their stellar contributions let to the fall of wickets of Netherlands leading Afghanistan to win the 1st match of the ODI series.

Hashmutullah Shahidi, for his wonderful innings of 73 runs, was given the title of the Man of the Match in Afghanistan vs Netherlands 1st ODI. The skipper of Afghanistan, Shahidi scored runs and made sure he took the team to score as many runs as possible, as there were the fall of early wickets and gave a massive contribution to their total innings of 222 runs in the first half of the game.
