Afghanistan sealed their winning title in the ODI series by winning two games back-to-back against Netherlands from 21st January to 25th January, 2022. Najibullah Zadran is named Man Of the Match. For his superb 71-run knock that included 3 sixes and 8 fours. When the middle-order fell a little short on getting runs, it was him whose innings took the Afghanistan’s score forward. With his knock of 71 runs, Afghanistan won this game. Afghanistan’s players pose for photos with the trophy after winning the ODI series 3-0. In addition, they collect a crucial 30 points in the World Cup Super League.
First Innings
Netherlands got a wicket of the Afghanistan’s opener, Rahmanullah Gurbaz. He managed to get just 12 runs, including a boundary. The stand-out player was Riaz Hussan who scored a half-century. It included 3 boundaries and a massive six and his wicket was taken by the spinner Saqib Zulfiqar. Batter Rahmat Shah was not very far behind. He ended up getting 48 runs with 2 amazing sixes and 3 boundaries as well along with his wicket being taken by Brandon Glover of Netherlands. Middle order batter, Najibullah Zadran was the highest run-getter for the Afghanistan team by scoring 71 runs for his team. This included 8 wonderful boundaries and 3 superb sixes with a strike rate of 120.34. Altogether, Afghanistan’s score was 254/5 in the first innings.
Second Innings
The Netherlands’ openers, Scott Edwards and Colin Ackermann put up a competitive partnership along-with an amazing half century of Edwards. This included a six and 5 fours and lost the wicket to Qais Ahmad. Captain Pieter Seelaar got out for 0 and had to return immediately due to the stumping by Fareed Ahmad. Unable to sustain wickets, Netherlands’ middle order showed a poor performance, except for Colin Ackermann who scored 81 runs. Eventually, he lost his wicket as well, to Rashid Khan. Afghanistan’s bowlers did an amazing job and got all the wickets of Netherlands for 179 runs, eventually winning by 75 runs.
