SRH won the toss and elected to bowl. Lucknow opened with Skipper KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock. Washington Sundar sent De Kock back to the pavilion in the second over. Sundar struck again dismissing Evin Lewis in the fourth over. Sorrows weren’t over for LSG as Manish chipped the ball on the fielder’s hand. SRH were 27/3 in 4.5 overs, having lost their top three batters in the first five overs.
Realising the situation LSG Skipper kept on taking ones and twos to keep the scoreboard ticking. Deepak Hooda made his way to the crease, and then on the duo took the much-needed charge of LSG’s inning. Rahul played a captain’s knock of 68 runs in 50 balls, hitting 4 fours and 1 six. Hooda hammered 51 runs in just 33 balls with a strike rate of 154. With Ayush Badoni‘s cameo of 19 off 12. LSG finished for 169/7. Natarajan took 2 dangerous wickets of Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya who looked lethal in the end.

With 170 to win, SRH openers, Skipper Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma gave a steady start. Skipper departed in the fourth over, misjudging the slower delivery of Avesh Khan. Khan went on to dismiss the second opener in his next over. Two new batters on the crease, Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram, while Tripathi made a promising 44 in 30, Markram supported him in ones and twos. But the asking rate went above 10, and with continuous dismissals, SRH was gasping for runs. Then came, the explosive Nicholas Pooran who puffed life into the SRH’s dead run chase. But Avesh Khan gave SRH the last nail in the coffin, didmissimg Pooran for 34. And SRH finished 157/9. Avesh Khan took 4 wickets, Jason holder took 3 guiding LSG to victory.

Avesh Khan won the Man of the Match award for his brilliant spell of 4/24 which choked the opposition’s run chase. He took the important wickets of Kane Wiliamson, Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad and Abhishek Sharma.
