Quinton de Kock gave a good start after skipper KL Rahul was dismissed early in the innings. He had scored 46 off 37 with 4 fours and 2 sixes. but his inning was cut short when PBKS pacer Sandeep Sharma dismissed Quinton de Kock with a brilliant delivery. However, the umpire has given it a not-out Quinton decided to walk out. QDK tried to hit Sharma’s slower length ball behind point. But he rather gave away an edge straight to the keeper’s gloves. There were loud appeals but the umpire gave it a not-out. After a couple of seconds, Quinton decided to walk out, knowing there was an edge. As he started to walk away, bowler Sandeep Sharma gave him a pat on the back and said ‘Thank You’.
The great show of true sportsmanship by both the players moved the internet. Cricket fans lauded the cricketers for keeping alive the spirit of the game. Had Quinton stayed at the crease longer LSG could’ve gone past 153. But LSG very well defended the comparatively small total at the MCA Stadium, Pune. Lucknow didn’t let Punjab establish partnerships and kept picking wickets. Because of this, it got easier for LSG to defend the total and win the match by 20 runs. Krunal Pandya was exceptional with the ball, he picked 2 wickets giving only 11 runs in his 4 overs. This earned him the Player of the Match against Punjab Kings.
