Previously, the Sixers were defeated by the Perth Scorchers by 48 runs in the Qualifier match, while the Strikers advanced to the Challenger match by defeating the Sydney Thunder by just 6 runs in the Knockout game. Laurie Evans won the title of Man Of the Match (MOM) in Perth Scorchers vs Sydney Sixers, today. His wonderful innings of 76* runs put up a competitive score on the board. When the other batters failed to put up a good number of run, he smashed 4 sixes and 4 boundaries and with a strike rate of 185.37. Eventually, this led to the belief of the scorchers to go high and be able to put up a touch competition to the Sydney Sixers and winning the match. They claimed their 4th title in the Big Bash League.

First innings

The innings started with an early wicket of the Perth Scorchers opener, Kurtis Patterson and the first break-through for the Sydney Sixers. As the Scorchers’ middle-order was struggling to put up enough runs and were only able to put up 19 runs. Scorchers’ skipper, Ashton Turner put up a wonderful innings by getting a half century. Including 1 six and 4 boundaries. After Turner got out for 54 runs by Steve O’Keefe, it was Laurie Evans who was able to put up an amazing innings. He smashed 4 massive sixes and 4 boundaries. Adding on this, his strike rate was 185.37. Altogether, Perth Scorchers put up 171/6 on the score-board. 

Second innings

The second innings started with Sydney Sixers’ opener, Hayden Kerr losing his wicket for just 2 runs. He was previously titled player of the match, but in this game, he was unable to perform well. Daniel Hughes was the only one who put up a competition to the Perth Scorchers by scoring 42 runs. He also hit 6 and 2 boundaries. The middle-order batters failed to keep-up with the target, leading to loss of wickets. Scorchers’ bowler, Andrew Tye got 3 wickets in this innings while giving out just 15 runs in 3 overs. Unable to sustain wickets, Sydney Sixers lost to Perth Scorchers for 92 runs. Eventually, leading to Perth Scorchers winning by 79 runs in the final match of the Big Bash League. This is their 4th winning title in the league.
