Hardik Pandya Salary 2022: How Much Money Hardik Pandya will get after demotion?

Team India is about to begin the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali. As the Indian squad is practicing BCCI had renewed its contracts. The list mentions a total of 27 players, in various categories. Some players’ contract has also been downgraded, due to various factors. Some shocking demotions were Ajinka Rahane, Chesteshwar Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan, and Hardik Pandya. There are different reasons for this. However, poor form and injuries are the central reasons for the downgrading of the contracts. Also, Navdeep Saini and Kuldeep Yadav were not included in any of the categories. The Indian cricket board has 4 categories in its central contract list. Namely, the categories are- A+, A, B, and C. The ‘A+’ category has an annual remuneration of INR 7 crore annually. While the ‘A’ category has a remuneration of INR 5 crore. Whereas, the ‘B’ and ‘C’ category has an annual remuneration of INR 3 and 1 crores respectively. The ‘A’ category earlier had 10 players, however, this time it has shrunk to 5 players. While 3 players have retained their position in the ‘A+’ category. Earlier, Wriddhiman Saha breached the BCCI contract by making public comments on the team selection. The team management even made it clear that he might not get to play for India again. However, Saha was still given a contract in Grade C, downgraded from the Grade B category.

Hardik Pandya revised salary

Pandya was once an integral part of the Indian squad. Since his serious recurring back pain which had him undergo surgery, Pandya has not been in great form. Poor performance by Hardik in the 2021 T20 World Cup led to him being dropped. He hasn’t played for India since then. In addition, he didn’t perform very well in the 2021 IPL. Considering all the factors, Hardik Pandya was demoted from Grade A to Grade C of the BCCI Contract List. As a result, BCCI will now pay Hardik Pandya a salary for 2022 of Rs 1 crore.

Rahane and Pujara demoted too

The Test veteran Chesteshwar Pujara and the former Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane were shockingly downgraded. They have been demoted from Grade A to Grade B. The two batters have been struggling with form. Resultantly, management dropped them from the Test squad of the Indian team. Because of the underwhelming performances, BCCI had made such a shocking decision. Both of them will now get 3 crores INR annually. In addition, Ishant Sharma was also demoted on the contract list. Moreover, the BCCI demoted Shikhar Dhawan as well. Since the star opener plays only ODIs for the country, he has been demoted. Now, Dhawan falls under Grade C. However, the contract Jadeja was put under was questioned by fans a lot. Because of his overall contributions in all formats of the game, he must have been in the ‘A+’ category as per fans.

A total of 27 players were included in the revised BCCI Contract. So, only 3 players are there in the top-most category with a pay of 7 crores annually. They are- Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah. While the majority of the people are in the Grade C at the remuneration of 1 crore INR, annually.
