The 40-year-old Swiss tennis player Roger Federer will return, after three years in his home tournament in October. After a long break due to a knee injury, Roger Federer planned his schedule for the year 2022, to start with the Swiss Indoors.

The Swiss all-time great has confirmed his initial agenda will include the Laver Cup in London followed by the Swiss Indoors in Basel.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion confirmed that he is returning to the ATP Tour starting from Swiss Indoors in Basel in October. He also signed to compete in Laver Cup, scheduled from September 23-25, which then leads to Swiss Indoors. After losing to Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon 2021 he had not returned to the court. The reason for so long rest was the multiple knee surgeries he went through and finally, he recovered enough to come back on the court.
Roger federer has officially entered the tournament and will appear on the entry list with the protected ATP ranking no. 9 and will play his opening match on tuesday, october 25, 2022

Swiss Indoors official statement confirmed that World no. 41, Roger Federer will compete as the three-time defending champion. Due to Covid-19, the tournament did not occur for the years 2020 and 2021.
