In the short 30-year history of the Premier League, there are some managers who’ve managed to achieve unsurmountable goals, creating a legacy in the toughest league in the world. Their work in the English top flight has helped them write down their name in the history of the sport as the Greatest Premier League Managers of all time, and they are looked up to by modern managers from all walks of life.

5. Sir Kenny Dalglish

Sir Kenny Dalglish, a legend at Liverpool and Blackburn, was the only manager to challenge Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United during the 1993–94 and 1994-95 seasons. An Alan Shearer inspired Blackburn Rovers went from Second Division regulars to winning the title, fighting till the death on both seasons, surprisingly beating the then-dominant Red Devils in the 94/95 season to the PL title. For this achievement alone, he deserves a spot in this list of greatest managers in Premier League.

4. Jose Mourinho

The Special One doesn’t need any indroduction to football fans. The Portugese manager Jose Mourinho won the Premier League title on three separate occasions in two stints at Chelsea, for which some consider him to be the greatest Chelsea manager of all time. His work at Manchester United often goes unappreciated, considering he won the Europa League and came second in the PL during the 2017/18 season, with a team that was underperforming at times.

3. Arsene Wenger

Arsene Wenger’s legacy at Arsenal and the PL speak for itself. Le professeur won the PL title with the Gunners on three separate occasions, including the 2003/04 season, which they won without losing a single game. The Invincibles are regarded as one of the best teams of all time, and all of it was down to Wenger’s strict transfer policy and regime and discipline on and off the pitch. His ball playing team during the late 90s and early 2000s has influenced the modern game in multiple ways.

2. Pep Guardiola

The Spanish manager has his list of accolades outside of Manchester City that is enough to dub him as one of the best, and his work at the blue side of Manchester is nothing short of a miracle. He has won 4 titles in his 6 years at the club so far, with an array of domestic titles. The Centurions are considered one of the greatest teams of all time after winning 100 points in a single season in 2017-18. Many current football managers cite Pep as an influence, including Mikel Arteta of Arsenal, who has incorporated many of Pep’s coaching philosophies into his time with the Gunners.

Sir Alex Ferguson is the undisputed greatest manager in the history of the Premier League. The 1998/99 total dominance team, three Champions Leagues, and 13 Premier League championships in 20 years are just a few examples of his achievements in English football management. Fergie is solely responsible for Manchester United’s success in his 26 year stint at the club, making him the longest serving manager in the history of the club and in the Premier League.
