Moussa Sissoko

The French midfielder was previously a part of Tottenham and Watford’s books, and is solid and reliable midfielder on his day, as characterised by his 2019/20 season where he was one of Spurs’ best players when they reached the Champions League final under Jose Mourinho. He is a fantastic addition to Antoine Kombouaré’s squad.

Jonathan David

The Canadian striker has been one of Lille’s best players since his arrival from Gent in 2020. He has scored 30 goals in 76 league appearances so far, and is also eyed by multiple clubs across Europe.

Nantes vs Lille: Team News

Alban Lafont made six saves for Nantes in their opener to earn his first clean sheet of the season, while Ludovic Blas and Moses Simon will be counted on to score, with Blas scoring 10 times last season and Simon leading the team with eight assists.

Evann Guessand struggled in his debut for La Maison Jaune, as the loanee from Nice barely touched the ball and was replaced by Mostafa Mohamed in the second half against Angers, while Moussa Sissoko made his debut for his new club after leaving Watford over the summer.

Kombouare made one change to his starting 11 against Angers from the team that started their Trophee des Champions match against Les Parisiens, with Jean-Charles Castelletto sitting out, while Quentin Merlin started in midfield and Dennis Appiah slotted in at the back.

Jonathan David got his season off to an excellent start, as the Canadian, who led Lille with 15 goals in 2021-22, picked up a brace and an assist in their first game, while Akim Zedadka scored his first goal for his new club, with Benjamin Andre scoring the winner.

Remy Cabella assisted on both of David’s goals, Jonathan Bamba assisted on their fourth goal, and Bafode Diakite made his Les Dogues debut, replacing Tiago Djalo.

In their previous match, Lille’s Alexsandro Ribeiro started at the back, while Timothy Weah, who had three goals and four assists for them the previous season, was unavailable.

Nantes vs Lille: Match Predictions

Lille have won the last four road games against Nantes, and we believe Les Canaris will struggle to contain an attacking side that looks dynamic in midfield and potent in the final third. We predict a 2-0 win for the away side.
