Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes has left Sporting Lisbon for English club Wolverhampton Wanderers for a club record fee of £42.2 million. The Brazilian-born attacking midfielder joins the club on a five-year deal, as reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Wolves manager Bruno Lage continues his Portuguese revolution along with agent Jorge Mendes and brings in another Portuguese player in the form of Nunes, after recently bringing in Goncalo Guedes from Spanish side Valencia for a fee of £27.5 million.

Matheus Nunes’ Career So Far
Born in Rio de Janerio, Nunes moved to Lisbon with his parents at a young age and joined the youth system of local Lisbon side Ericeirense. He made his senior debut for the club in the 2015/16 season, playing in the Lisbon Football Association.
He left Ericeirense for Primeira Liga club Estoril in the summer of 2018, making his debut in a 2-2 draw against Varzim in October 2018. His career at Estoril was riddled with injuries, and he was mostly restricted to the reserve team for the Portuguese side.

The scouts of Sporting CP came looking and signed Nunes up for a fee of €500,000 fee in January 2019. The attacking midfielder got called up by manager Ruben Amorim in a league game against Vitoria, marking his debut in the Portuguese top flight. He scored his first goal for the Leões in a 2-0 home victory against Braga. He went on to register a total of 76 league appearances for Sporting, scoring 7 goals.
