Croatia aims to go one step further than 2018 when they board the plane to Qatar for their third World Cup appearance.
Luka Modric, the team’s captain, stays in charge, and after missing out on the trophy the last time around, the Real Madrid star will be hoping to bring it home this time.
Croatia may have a team that is superior to the group that made it to the 2018 final thanks to a good balance of veteran players and exciting recruits, who are not all necessarily young guns.
The Vatreni are also quite fragile and are equally capable of collapsing in their group as they are of winning the game. With Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic, and Dejan Lovren at his side for one more World Cup dance, Modric still rules supreme, but the team has undergone significant restructuring and reinvention.
Croatia will face Belgium, Morocco, and Canada first in Group F, with the African representatives meeting them on November 23.

Croatia Star Players
1. Luka Modric
Since making his debut for Croatia in 2006, Luka Modric has watched entire generations come and go from the team. Eight major tournaments and more than 150 appearances later, he is still the only constant. Even the briefest glance tells that this is still mostly his crew. At 37, the skipper is still the vintage master in charge.
Among Modric’s many accolades is his 2018 Best FIFA Men’s Player victory, which highlighted his exceptional talent on an individual level.
The legendary Luka Modric of Croatia stated that he has not made up his mind on his future in international football and will make a decision following their performance at the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. The 37-year-old Real Madrid icon will command attention when Croatia’s Group F campaign gets underway against Morocco on November 23.
2. Ivan Persic
Without Ivan Perisic, this list of Croatian titans wouldn’t be complete. The attacking Wideman, who moved from Inter Milan to Tottenham during the summer, played a key role for the Vatreni in several World Cup matches, scoring against Iceland in the final group match, tying the score, and providing an assist in the semifinal victory over England, and then scoring again to offset France’s opening goal in the championship game.
Perisic, who is likely to be one of the first names on the team sheet, will be a key player for Croatia under Dalic. He is another charismatic leader who can inspire the group from the start, as he did at the most recent UEFA European Championship when he scored a goal.
Perisic will be one to watch in Qatar for a number of additional reasons, including his lifelong devotion to Croatia’s national colors and his desire to excel on the biggest stage.
