Virat Kohli To Open Restaurant In Kishore Kumar’s Bungalow In Mumbai

The late actor-singer Kishore Kumar’s family owned the bungalow known as “Gouri Kunj” in Mumbai’s Juhu neighbourhood. Cricketer Virat Kohli has acquired a portion of this property for his upcoming restaurant. The Instagram bio of the former Team India captain’s chain, “One8 Commune” (named after his jersey number “18”), now reads, “Juhu, Mumbai #ComingSoon.”

The chain has resto-bars in Virat Kohli‘s hometown Delhi, besides Kolkata and Pune. According to business listings, there used to be a restaurant called “B Mumbai” in the Juhu area. When the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a notice over some construction that was against the rules, it made the headlines at the time. The restaurant’s owners resolved that by razing down a portion.

Kohli leases the restaurant for 5 years

As for Virat Kohli’s lease, it is for five years, and the restaurant is all set for opening any time now, it is learnt. He is currently part of the squad in UAE for the Asia Cup, where he will be hoping for a good run and return to form. He’s seen a dearth of big scores lately. In addition to the hospitality industry, the star batter also has business interests in clothes, fragrances, and shoes under the “One8” brand. Additionally, he has a stake in “Wrogn,” a clothing and accessory company that is continually expanding its product line.

He admits to being a fan of “chhole-bhature,” but his strict diet and exercise routine are what are most well-known about him. In addition to goods associated with athletics, he also endorses wellness items.

The new restaurant will be in what’s already an iconic place. Gouri Kunj is where the legendary Kishore Kumar famously told an interviewer that he’d given names to the trees. His collection of vintage cars, too, were parked here. His son, Amit Kumar, who is a singer too, lives here, as do other family members.
