Axar Patel replaces Ravindra Jadeja in Asia Cup 2022 Squad

BCCI issued a press release announcing Axar Patel as the replacement.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Axar Patel as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the ongoing Asia Cup. Ravindra Jadeja has sustained a right knee injury and is ruled out of the tournament. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team,” read the official statement. In addition, it stated that Axar will soon join the team in Dubai soon. He was originally named as the standby in the India squad for Asia Cup 2022.

Earlier this year, Ravindra Jadeja had badly hurt his ribs attempting a catch against RCB in the IPL 2022. This kept him out of cricket for a long time. Now, that he has injured his knee again, the matter is of great concern to India as Ravindra Jadeja’s all-around capabilities are very crucial for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. He has been batting very well since last year. Therefore, his recovery in time is very important.
