SRH vs PBKS: Live Score and Updates

Sunrisers Hyderabad host in-form Punjab Kings in match 14 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. Refresh to catch all the latest updates from the SRH vs PBKS game.

Shikhar Dhawan gets a solid fifty!

SRH get their maiden points on the table!

Rahul Tripathi (74 runs off 48 balls) leads the way for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they open their account in the league with a 7 wicket win over PBKS. Dhawan’s gritty innings goes in vain. Punjab Kings started well keeping both the openers quite. But once Tripathi opened his blade, they were never allowed to have control of the game. They had very less runs to play with and hence suffered their first defeat in the tournament. This a huge win for Sunrisers and they needed this badly after they started with two heavy defeats. The Orange Army next plays the Knight Riders at Eden Gardens and would be riding on the confidence of this win. Punjab on the other hand will play Gujrat Titans on Thursday at Mohali and would look to bounce back.

SRH – 118/2 after 15 overs

Sunrisers are absolutely thrashing the bowlers now. Tripathi has been on a carnage against the spinners and Markram has also chipped in with a couple of boundaries. Rahul Tripathi toook the young leggie for 21 runs in an over. Their intent is clear, they want to finish this early to help their Net Run Rate. They need 26 runs off the last 5 overs.

Tripathi helps himself to a half-century!

Rahul Tripathi has been on a role here, smashing spin to all parts. He has also brought up his fifty off just 35 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes. SRH have pulled the req. rate under 7.5 an over now.

SRH vs PBKS Mid-Innings Update: Tripathi takes on spin!

Rahul Tripathi has struck 5 boundaries in last 6 balls giving them 24 runs in the last two overs. Just when, we thought Punjab are taking control, Rahul has applied more pressure on them by targeting their spinners. He has pulled the req rate down to under 8 RPO. SRH are 67/2 after 10 overs.

Both Openers in the hut!

The pressure of the tight overs have transformed into a wicket. Mayank tried to release pressure but failed as he toe-ended a slog sweep and handed Sam Curran an easy catch. Chahar is getting the ball to talk. Brar is also keeping it tight. SRH need 99 from 69 balls. It’s not going to be easy.

SRH vs PBKS: Powerplay Done!

A cautious start with scoring rate under 6 RPO. Both teams would be happy with the start. Rahul Chahar would need to deliver his best if PBKS has to win this. For now, SRH are 34/1 after the powerplay, needing 110 more.

Arshdeep goes straight through Brook!

Punjab had to strike early to defend this and Arshdeep provides just what the doctor ordered. The million-dollar man of SRH is sent packing for 13 runs. SRH are 27/1 at the end of 4 overs.

SRH vs PBKS Innings Break: Fabulous Dhawan plays one of the finest innings of the IPL!

Let’s first take a moment and appreciate the gem Shikhar Dhawan has played here. He misses his well-deserved century by just 1 run, but this 99 is more valuable than many centuries. What a day this is turning out to be for the left-handed batters?… Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh and now Shikhar Dhawan. The Punjab Kings were struggling at 88/9. They had no business getting 143/9. This is how good that innings has been. This is also the highest partnership for 10th wicket in the IPL.

Mayank Markande’s leggies and googlies proved to be lethal. From 63/3 PBKS slipped to 78/8 and then 88/9 at the end of 15 overs. But an excellent recovery has given them something to bowl at! SRH need 144 to get their maiden points and hand PBKS their first defeat. Who’ll walk away with a W?..

Shikhar stands tall with a fighting fifty!

Dhawan smashed two sixes off Natarajan to take his side past 100. He has brought up his own half-century in the process. He has also taken over the Orange Cap from Ruturaj Gaikwad. This has been a captain’s knock who has fought a lone battle thus far. With four overs and just a wicket left, it’s all on Dhawan for PBKS.

Markande bags 4-fer, Punjab struggling at the moment!

Another umpire call gave Markande his 3rd strike. He returned to get his 4th wicket in the final over of his spell. He ends with figures of 4/15. Shikhar Dhawan is the lone man standing and PBKS have only wicket remaining. They 88/9 with 5 to play.

Markande and Umran bag their second, leave PBKS rattled!

Markande strikes again trapping Shah Rukh Khan in front. He reviewed it but it didn’t save him as the DRS showed Umpire’s Call. A lovely googly to get that wicket.

The very next over Umran has knocked over Harpreet Brar. PBKS 77/7 in the 12th over. They are at a serious threat of getting bowled out under 100 runs. Can their skipper save them and take them to a respectable total?… He needs support from other end though.

SRH vs PBKS Mid-Innings Update: Punjab sink further!

Punjab Kings have now lost half their side for 73 runs. Sam Curran tried to take on Markande but failed to read the googly. Hence, ended up slicing it to Bhuvi at short third-man. Then the express pace of Umran Malik hurried on to Sikandar Raza and he failed to middle a ramp resulting in loss of his wicket. The impact player failing to deliver unlike the last game. Captain Shikhar Dhawan is standing tall but is running out of partners. He now has Shah Rukh Khan with him at the crease. PBKS are 73/5 at the halfway stage.

SRH vs PBKS: Powerplay Done!

Punjab Kings finish the powerplay on a high taking 11 off the final over. But Sunrisers have won the powerplay here picking 3 wickets. Sam Curran looking to be positive and deploying a counter-attack here! PBKS are 41/3 after the powerplay.

Jansen strike again, 3rd down for PBKS!

Jitesh Sharma departs playing an upper-drive only to place a easy catch in Markram’s hands. Marco Jansen now has 2 wickets in 2 overs!.. SRH dominating the powerplay as Sam Curran and Shikhar Dhawan look to rebuild.

SRH strike twice within 10 balls!

Bhuvi trapped Prabhsimran Singh off the first ball in the innings. Now Marco Jansen gets Matthew Short in the very next over! What a start for SRH!!!…That’s some way to start coming on the back of two succesive losses! TOO MUCH ACTION IN THE LAST 15 MINUTES!!..First Ahmedabad, Now Hyderabad!!

Rinku Singh went 6 6 6 6 6 in Ahmedabad and that means Punjab are the only unbeaten side this season!

Sunrisers Hyderabad Playing XI: Mayank Agarwal, Harry Brook, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram(c), Heinrich Klaasen(w), Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, Umran Malik, T Natarajan

Punjab Kings Playing XI: Shikhar Dhawan(c), Prabhsimran Singh, Matthew Short, Jitesh Sharma(w), Shahrukh Khan, Sam Curran, Nathan Ellis, Mohit Rathee, Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh

STAT: Lost the toss twice, asked to bat first twice but PBKS emerged victorious on both occasions. Could this be 3 in 3?..

Toss Update: Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the toss and will bowl first!

The team winning the toss will potentially bat first. Expect a little bit of swing with the new ball. Should spin a little bit more than we saw the other day. It’s devoid of grass as well. All in all, a pretty good surface. Bat first, put runs on the board….Says Simon Katich at the Pitch Report.
