Who won Man Of the Match (MOM) in Eng vs WI?
Jason Holder won the Man Of the Match (MOM) in the 5th T20I in Eng vs WI. His brilliant innings of 5/27 is what led him to claim this title. Holder was marvellous throughout the series and is also the ‘Player of the series.‘ He managed to get 5 wickets while bowling only 2.5 overs. He got the wickets of the skipper, Moeen Ali, who was the previous Man of the Match, including Billings, Jordan, Rashid and also Mahmood. This stunning innings of Jason Holder led West Indies to win the match and the series.
First innings
Openers Brandon King and Kyle Mayers scored 34 and 31 runs respectively and put up a good start in the powerplay. They both hit 2 sixes and 5 boundaries altogether. Eventually, bowlers Liam Livingstone and Adil Rashid got their wickets. One-down batter, Romario Shephered was not able to put up a lot of runs and got out for 6 runs. Livingstone tosses the ball up, around off and Shephered looks for a slog, but spins sharply and goes off the outside leg. The ball goes towards Saqib Mahmood and gets a catch. Nicholas Pooran enters and scores 21 runs for the tea. Also, Adil Rashid strikes again with his second wicket of Pooran. Skipper Keiron Pollard steps on the field and smashes 2 sixes and a boundary. Pollard and Rovman Powell took the game ahead and led the team to get 179 runs for 4 wickets.
Second innings
The England openers, Jason Roy and Tom Banton were able to put up just 24 runs on board. Banton hit six and 2 boundaries. James Vince’s innings was absolutely brilliant. He hit 7 boundaries and a six with 55 runs in his account. England’s skipper Moeen Ali, who was previously the ‘Player of the Match,’ was only able to get 14 runs in this innings. Sam Billings was another batter who put up a competition by scoring 41 runs. Also, bowler Akeal Hosein got 3 wickets in this innings and his performance was fantastic. The real stand-out player in this match is Jason Holder with 5 exceptional wickets in hand. This wonderful innings is what gave West Indies the break-through and they won by 17 runs.
