Who won Man of the Match (MOM) in WI vs ENG, 2nd T20I, today?

Unlike the 1st match, which turned out to be a dead rubber, this was a proper box-office show from the two nations. This one went down to the wire, a last-ball thriller and a heartbreak. West Indies captain Keiron Pollard won the toss again and opted to bowl, same as he did in the previous match, not changing the winning formula. The Windies played the same XI. England captain Eoin Morgan made one change in the line-up, Reece Topley in place of Tymal Mills. Also, let’s look at who won the Man of the Match (MOM) in WI vs ENG, 2nd T20I.

Pitch Conditions– Kensington Oval, Barbados. It was a new and fresh pitch with a bit of grass on the surface.

Playing XI

England, Moeen Ali, Who Won The Man Of The Match (MOM) In WI Vs ENG

Moeen Ali was adjudged as the man of the match (MOM) in WI vs ENG, 2nd T20I for his useful contributions from the bat and ball. He made 31 of 24 balls including 3 fours and 1 and also, he took 3 wickets, conceding just 24 from 4 overs. Moeen Ali proved to be a perfect all rounder for England in this game. With his aggressive innings of 31 runs, it set the phase for the lower order to flourish. And thankfully in this match, England batting didn’t collapse unlike the first match.

1st Innings

Jason Roy, England

English batters started well this time. Tom Banton made 25 of 18 including 3 fours and 1 six, and Jason Roy, on the other end, smashed the Windies bowlers. He went on to make a very effective 45 of 31 deliveries. Then came Moeen Ali, the England all-rounder. He played very important innings of 31 runs from 24 balls which set the tone. Captain Morgan wasn’t impressive with the bat (13 of 12). A handy contribution from the lower order all-rounder, Chris Jordan, helped England to push the score to 171/8.

Among the bowlers, Jason Holder was very impressive. He bagged 2 wickets in 4 overs and conceded just 25 runs. Fabian Allen also had his share of wickets (2 wickets) but was very expensive (50 runs of 4 overs).

2nd innings

England, West Indies

Then came the run chase. Brandon King, who scored a brilliant half-century in the 1st match, went out on a 1st ball duck this match. He was trapped in front by Reece Topley, followed by a brilliant run-out by Topley himself. Things started looking worse for the Windies when Nicholas Pooran and Darren Bravo came and calmed down things for the hosts. But a similar story followed, the fall of wickets and the Windies were in a dire situation once again. Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosein made a good partnership. Then came the penultimate over, the final over. 30 required of 6 balls. And Akeal Hosein did his magic. He smashed 3×6’s and 2×4’s. 29 runs came from the last over and West Indies lost by 1 run! A valiant effort from Akeal Hosein.
