GT openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill opened Gujarat’s innings. But Tim Southee drew the first blood for KKR, dismissing Gill for 7 in the second over. Then, came GT’s skipper and played a captain’s knock of 67 in 49 balls. Then, Umesh Yadav gave the breakthrough to the Knights dismissing Saha in the 11th over. Miller played a knock of 27, with Rahul Tewatia making 17. Gujarat posted 156/9. The lower order of GT was cleaned up by Russell as he bagged 4 wickets. Southee too picked up 3.

With 157 to win, a new opening pair of Sam Billings and Sunil Narine made their way into the middle. Billings went in the first over itself of Mohammed Shami‘s delivery. And Narine was dismissed in the third over. Wickets fell like bowling pins for KKR today with only young gun Rinku Singh playing a steady inning of 35. At last, Russell did some last ball firings but didn’t receive support from the others. KKR bundled out at 148/8. Mohammad Shami, Yash Dayal and Rashid Khan bagged a pair of wickets each.
