Chahar’s base price was 75 lakhs INR. He received fierce bids in IPL Mega Auction 2022. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals started the bid for Rahul. These teams increased the price by over 2 crores. Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings had also shown interest in buying it. DC didn’t show much interest once the bid increased by Rs 3.80 crores. However, Rahul Chahar’s former team Mumbai Indians didn’t show much intent in buying him. MI came in at 3.60 crores. However, they were out as the bid passed 4.80 crores INR. Rajasthan Royals showed interest throughout. But as the bid passed 5 crores, they withdrew too. Punjab Kings was pretty ambitious to have him on their side. Rahul Chahar goes to be a part of Punjab Kings at Rs 5.25 crores.
Rahul Chahar made his IPL debut in 2017 with Rising Pune Supergiants. He played only 3 matches that year, picking 2 wickets. Moreover, in 2018 he was picked by Mumbai Indians in their squad. He has been one of the most important spinners for MI. He has made a good name for himself at this young age. He has played brilliantly in Vijay Hazare, Duleep, Deodhar Trophies. He was the leading wicket-taker for Rajasthan in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Chahar made his debut for India in 2019. In addition, he was also a part of India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup squad.
