Ruturaj Gaikwad Becomes The Joint-Fastest Indian To Score 1000 Runs In IPL, Equals Sachin Tendulkar’s Record

Ruturaj Gaikwad breaks the Dhoni and Rohit to achieve this huge feat

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the right-handed opener of Chennai Super Kings, had sensationally made way for CSK’s third win, this season of Indian Premier League. Although, he wasn’t in his full form when the 15th season took off. However, he has eventually managed to get back on track with scoring runs for his teams. He was also the Orange Cap holder of 2021’s IPL and was destructively efficient with the bat. However, at present, Ruturaj Gaikwad becomes the joint-fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in IPL. He has now become parallel to the great Sachin Tendulkar’s record of the same.

In the recent match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings; Ruturaj Gaikwad missed his first IPL century of 2022 by just a single run. He smashed a brilliant knock of 99 off 57 deliveries. Gaikwad didn’t even let Umran Malik; the SRH’s and this year IPL’s fastest bowler, make him struggle through his furious deliveries. He made the ball go into the stands 6 times and hit boundaries whenever he saw the opportunity. This excellent knock by the 25-year-old led CSK to put a strong fighting total of 202 on the score-board. The score was successfully defended by the team and Chennai Super Kings won the match by 13 runs. This was the third win of the team and the first after Ravindra Jadeja recently handed over his captaincy back to MS Dhoni.

Before this innings, Gaikwad was going through a time of agony on the field as he was able to make only a single 50+ runs in the whole season of 2022 until now. This great knock has definitely built up a level of confidence in him and successfully helped him to get his form back. Suresh Raina (34 innings), Rishabh Pant (35 innings) and Devdutt Padikkal (35 innings) are next to Sachin Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad on the list of joint-fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in IPL.
