CSK vs PBKS: Live Score and Update

CSK vs PBKS: Punjab Kings win an absolute thriller!

Sikandar Raza held his nerve! He spotted the gap and then went to place it there rather than going for a glory shot. They ran three of the last ball to get home. This comeback was triggered by Liam Livingstone when he struck Tushar Deshpande for 24 runs in the 16th over. Then Sam Curran and Jitesh Sharma followed that up with a 17 run over. That was the turning point of the game. Many twist and turns but PBKS ended on the correct side of a thriller.  What scenes at Chepauk.

We are done with 999 games, and the 1000th IPL game has begun. Do switch tabs and follow that game. Click here to catch the MI vs RR clash.

CSK vs PBKS: How things stand!

PBKS 129/3 (15 overs) | CRR: 8.60 RRR: 14.40

Need 72 runs from 30 balls!

Liam Livingstone 22 (19)

Sam Curran 19 (15)

CSK in control at this stage. Will need a massive effort from PBKS to win this one. They do have a tall order and certainly can do it.

Jadeja gets another!

Shortens the length because he suspects Atharva Taide would charge, and Taide snipes the flat-batted shot, giving Jadeja a simple chance to grab. CSK’s spinners fighting back in the middle phase once again. Currently it’s only Jadeja and they would hope others join in too. Sam Curran comes to the crease. PBKS are 97/3 after 11 overs. Need 104 runs from 54 balls.

CSK vs PBKS: Required Rate 10.70 at the halfway mark!

The middle phase has been CSK’s strength with the ball and they have pulled things back in this phase. Dhoni is doing just the same with his spinners today. CSK are fighting back here. PBKS are 94/2 after 10 overs, needing 107 runs more!

Jadeja gets Prabhsimran!

Jadeja slows it down a bit and it causes the ball to turn away from a charging-down Prabhsimran. He wanted to go big but misses. Dhoni cheekily waits before flicking the bails off. Prabhsimran was way down. Important wicket this for CSK!

CSK vs PBKS: PBKS utilize the powerplay!

Punjab Kings have shown some great intent, something that was clearly missing in their last game against LSG. They lost Dhawan but Prabhsimran ensured they don’t slow down. PBKS have accumulated 62/1 off the powerplay. They need 139 runs from 84 balls.

Deshpande strikes!

PBKS realized scoring well in the powerplay is very important and hence they are going hard at the top. Dhawan looks to keep with the flow and he cuts a short and wide delivery straight to short third. Big wicket for CSK and Deshpande the one getting it again! He has done this match after match for them! PBKS 50/1

Impact Substitution!

Punjab Kings substituted Kagiso Rabda and Prabhsimran Singh comes in as an impact player. Akash Singh has substituted Ambati Rayudu for the Chennai Super Kings. Both of them are in action straightaway. Akash Singh will bowl the first over and Prabhsimran is on strike!

CSK vs PBKS: CSK get an even 200!

Devon Conway carried his bat with a wonderful 92-run knock. Riding on this knock CSK have finished with 200/4 in their 20 overs. Fourth consecutive 200+ total while batting first for CSK. The Chepauk went berserk when MSD hit the last two balls of the innings for sixes. Just what they wanted to see, an Unreal craze for this man! Back to the game, Shivam Dube and Ruturaj Gaikwad have played handy knocks in the innings to give CSK a good total.

The target for Punjab Kings is 201 runs to win from 120 balls. This target is going to be stiff for them with the pitch slowing down and CSK spinners in prime touch. Shikhar Dhawan will hold the key as he has the wood over CSK’s lead spinner Jadeja and has also enjoyed success against the franchise. Will he take his team over the line?

Decent Over from Arshdeep!

A brilliant over by Arshdeep 9 runs and the wicket of Shivam Dube. He nearly had Conway too by deceiving him with the slower ball. But he’ll have to satisfy himself with Dube’s wicket. Slower one pitched up outside off, makes Dube reach for it and he miscues the lofted shot off the toe-end. SRK grabs a comfortable catch at long-on! Devon Conway continues his run as he takes Livingstone for 16 runs in the 15th over! CSK are 146/2 after 15 overs. 180 would have been par given the slowness of the wicket, but it seems CSK might end up with more!

Another Fifty for Conway!

Devon Conway brings up his 8th IPL fifty and his 5th this season. This is also his third fifty in the last 4 games. He also surpassed Shubman Gill in the orange cap race earlier today. He has played beautifully and is turning out to be an asset for the Chennai Super Kings. They would hope he carries on!

CSK vs PBKS: CSK scoring steadily, but lose Gaikwad!

Punjab Kings have managed to break the opening partnership courtesy of Sikandar Raza. He tossed the ball up and it went past the outside edge and Jitesh Sharma completed an easy stumping. Gaikwad charged down blindly and got nowhere near the pitch of the delivery and pays the price in the end. Super Kings are 90/1 at the halfway mark (10 overs).

STAT: Devon Conway reaches 5000 runs in T20s. He is third fastest to this landmark (144 innings) only behind KL Rahul (143) and Chris Gayle (132). His average – 43.86 currently – is bettered only by Babar Azam (44.02) and Mohammad Rizwan (43.95).

CSK vs PBKS: CSK are 57/0 after 6 overs

Chennai Super Kings are off to a good start, yet again! Both of them looking good. Punjab need wickets. Else, this batting line up will punish them even harder in the next few overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad started with a glorious cover drive. We see Curran and Rabada turning the slower balls and cutters very early in the innings. It seems like they are going to be the go-to deliveries for the bowlers on this deck!

PBKS Impact Subs: Prabhsimran Singh, Matthew Short, Rishi Dhawan, Mohit Rathee, Shivam Singh

CSK Impact Subs: Akash Singh, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Dwaine Pretorious, Shaik Rasheed, Subhranshu Senapati

Punjab Kings Playing XI: Atharva Taide, Shikhar Dhawan(c), Liam Livingstone, Sikandar Raza, Sam Curran, Jitesh Sharma(w), Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh

Toss Update: Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and have opted to bat!

Build-Up..

The 41st match of the Indian Premier League will pit Kings against Super Kings at Chepauk. The Kings have won each of the last three games at Chepauk. But the Super Kings have won their last three games against Kings at Chepauk. One of those streak will snap today. We’ll find which one sustains. Follow the feed for CSK vs PBKS: Live Score and Update.

Punjab Kings have blown hot and cold the whole season. They started their season well, winning their first two games, but they have only won two of their last six games. They can’t afford to keep falling as the race for a top-four finish becomes increasingly challenging by each passing day. The last thing they would have wanted in such a situation is to go to Chennai and hit the pitch less than 48 hours after their previous defeat.

Chennai Super Kings were on a three-game winning streak which was interrupted by the Rajasthan Royals.  Notably, after losing their previous match, CSK slipped to fourth place in the IPL Points Table. They have 5 wins and 3 defeats in 8 matches. From CSK’s perspective, they will be looking at this game to quickly return to winning ways. Read the full preview and fantasy report here.

WHAT TO EXPECT?.. As this will be the first day game of the season in Chennai, neither captain will have to worry about dew. CSK like to chase, although batting first is not a terrible idea. The surface has typically favoured batters, yet scoring against spin has been extremely difficult on this pitch.
