Conte’s Spurs secured the Champions League place.

Conte- The X-Factor

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur secured their Champions League spot on the very last matchday of the Premier League. In order to finish 4th, all Spurs had to do was to avoid a defeat against Norwich and they did not disappoint their supporters as they won their game 5-0. Of course, the big difference that everyone thinks of the turnaround of the Spurs season is Antonio Conte. He was appointed back in November and since then Spurs have improved drastically both in attack and in defence. The last time they were in the Champions League they made an outstanding run all the way to the finals.

Spurs players have been incredible since the arrival of Conte as with the struggles that Harry Kane had at the start of the season, later on he picked up his pace and finished the season with 35 goal contributions in all competitions by scoring 25 goals and providing 10 assists. Son also won the Premier League golden boot with 23 goals which does not include a single penalty. Also the new recruitments that Spurs made were excellent like Cristian Romero was the backbone of the Spurs defence and Kulusevki who was signed by Conte in January certainly had a major role in the quest for the top 4.

But later in the post-match press conference when Conte was asked about his Spurs future, he said that he is not sure whether he’ll stay next season. He will first have a meeting with the President and the Sporting director to understand next season’s ambitions and then he’ll make his decision. Spurs supporters are saying that the management should keep Conte for next season at all costs and provide him with the transfer budget that he needs cause if Conte leaves it would be a major setback for them. All in all, Conte had a rocky journey as a Spurs manager as he had results like a defeat to Burnley but also a historic win against Manchester City at the Etihad when Harry Kane scored at the last minute.
