Sehwag confirmed that team sent Warner back to teach him a lesson due to his bad behavior, says he fights a lot

David Warner has been involved in some dressing room incidents and lacked discipline.

David Warner is one of the best IPL players. He is the only player to have scored the highest runs in 3 editions. Despite missing 2 games, he is in the race for Orange Cap this year as well. Warner’s career has seen many ups and downs. Specifically last year, because of poor performance, Warner’s captaincy was taken away and he was dropped off the team as well. This year, Warner is back to his amazing hitting abilities. And has played some very important knocks for Delhi Capitals. Recently, when he faced his old franchise SRH, he played a brilliant knock of 92* off 58 deliveries. He led Delhi to a win against the in-form Hyderabad. It is to be noted that Warner started his IPL journey with the then Delhi Daredevils. Virender Sehwag shared an incident from 2009 where Warner was sent back home because of his bad behavior.

Virender Sehwag had an illustrious career and has played alongside some great cricketers, being one of the legends of the game himself. Apart from playing with the likes of Tendulkar, Dravid, and Dhoni. IPL has given him the opportunity to share the dressing room with some international cricketers as well. Recently, while talking about his days at the Delhi Daredevils, he recalls how he was often frustrated. Sehwag has served as the captain for 5 years. Often the frustration comes out on fellow players. He recalled how David Warner was once the victim. Back in 2009 when Warner was playing his first IPL season, he was struggling with discipline. According to Sehwag he used to party more than practice and was involved in fights. As a result, the management had to send him back.

Sehwag opened up about Warner being sent back

“I too have vented out my frustrations on a couple of players and David Warner was one of them. Because when he had joined newly, he partied more than believing in practice or playing matches. In the first year, he had a fight with a few players so we sent him back for the last two matches. So sometimes it happens that you keep someone out to teach them a lesson. He was new so it was important to show him that you alone are not important for the team, others are too. There are other players who can play and win the match for the team too. And that’s what happened. We kept him out of the team and won as well.”
