KKR vs SRH: SRH win back-to-back!

Well Played Kolkata Knight Riders! Well Played Nitish Rana & Rinku Singh! But the points go to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. They held their nerves at the back end, catching most of the opportunities. But the win was set up by the trio of Brook, Markram, Abhishek! SRH seal the game by 23 runs and move ahead! KKR did well but it didn’t prove enough!

Sundar holds on to one this time!

Sundar holds on the the catch this time. Nitish Rana departs but not before playing a fantastic innings ( 75 runs, 41 ball, 5 fours, 6 sixes). Shardul Thakur and Rinku Singh are at the crease. Thakur was their hero in win against RCB and Rinku was their hero against GT. Can they combine and provide another miracle?… With all due respect, it is tough but you never know!

KKR 171/6 after 17 overs, they need 58 more off 18 balls.

KKR vs SRH: 87 runs more, last 5 overs of the match!

Excellent recovery from KKR! Nitish Rana is going strong with 68 runs off 35 balls. Rinku Singh is also done with sighters and is getting into his grove!

KKR are 142/5 after 15 overs, need 87 runs more from 30 balls!.. with Rinku in you wonder how much is enough?

Russell dismissed!

Russell falls to leg spin again, three time in last three innings now! He tried to slog a flat delivery and miscued it straight in the air. Jansen takes the catch and Russell is in the hut. Nitish Rana is keeping the fight going for KKR and he has reached his fifty off just 25 balls. He is joined by last game’s hero, Rinku Singh! KKR 111/5 after 12 overs, needing 118 runs more from 48 balls!

KKR vs SRH : KKR need 133 more at the halfway stage!

Sunrisers scored 134 off the last 10 so still neck-to-neck, but KKR have lost more wickets!

KKR are 96/4 after 10 overs, Nitish Rana is playing some impressive shorts.

Jagadeesan holes out!

The leg spin of Markande strikes! Floated up and Jagadeesan slogs it but holes out at deep midwicket. Middled it all right but no elevation as it went flat and Phillips completes a good catch! KKR 82/4 (8.2 overs) as players break for Strategic Timeout!

KKR vs SRH: KKR strike back in the powerplay!

This is some hitting to finish the powerplay. You need big overs early when you chase a big total. Rana and Jagadeesan do just the same. Jagadeesan has started to middle them now. And Rana has taken Umran Malik for 28 runs in his first over smashing him to all parts.

KKR are 62/3 after powerplay, SRH were 65/2.. so not much difference!

Jansesn strikes off successive deliveries!

Jansen has removed Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine off successive deliveries! SRH have reduced KKR to 22/3 inside 4 overs on a batting beauty. The camera’s already pointing towards Rinku Singh and rightly so! It will need something special to win form this situation!

Bhuvi strikes in the first over again!

Last match it was Prabhsimran, this match it is Rahmanuallah Gurbaz. He has sent another opening batter packing for a duck. Gurbaz got tricked into a playing across the line gets a thick edge and Umran tracks it down nicely for a comfortable catch at third man.

Now KKR use their impact player, Venkatesh Iyer comes in!

KKR 1/1 (1 over).

Impact Player (SRH): Harry Brook Substituted for Washington Sundar!

SRH vs KKR Innings Break: Brook’s ton powers SRH to 228!

The first century of IPL 2024 belongs to Harry Brook! The fans have patiently waited for him to get going and he finally has. Let’s also appreciate the efforts of Markram, Klassen and Abhishek Sharma who kept the runs flowing from the other end. SRH finish with 228/4.

Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t do much wrong with the ball, but they were greeted with some excellent batting. Now their batters would have emulate the same as KKR chase 229. If they do it, will be the highest successful run chase in the history of the IPL!..

Looking at the occurrences of last 4 days, You won’t want to rule KKR out as of yet.. Another close finish might be on our hands!

Harry Brook strike rate-

Against Pace: 253

Against Spin: 117

Brook in 90s, SRH past 200!

Harry Brook races to 90 off 50 and looks set to get a century. Young Abhishek Sharma on the other end has targeted spinners hitting Narine and Chakravarthy for 14 runs each in last 2 overs.

Just as I type this.. Russell gets Abhishek Sharma. but he has played his part with 32 off 17…! SRH 201/4 with 11 balls remaining in the innings. And Russell is walking off the field, it seems like cramps. Shardul Thakur to finish his over. This is Shardul’s first over in the game!

KKR vs SRH: Sunrisers well-placed to cross 200 with 5 overs left!

Pace was back on and so was Harry Brook! He smashed 23 runs off Lockie Ferguson’s over! Markram’s counter-attacking fifty and now Brooks hitting top gear. SRH have recovered well from Russ’ double strike. SRH 157/3 with 5 overs still to play!. 200 is on the cards can KKR restrict them?.. mind you KKR haven’t done well in death phases with ball in hand!

50 and out for Captain Markram!

Aiden Markram stepped on the accelerator attacking the young Suyash Sharma taking his 2 overs for 25. He also went after Varun Chakravarthy hitting him for a four and six and then eventually found Russell at deep mid wicket in the 13th over. SRH 130/3 after 13 overs.

KKR vs SRH: Spinners pull the flow back at the halfway stage!

29 runs since the powerplay ended. Spinners waving their magic once again for KKR. Aiden Markram though smashed get out of jail shot on the last ball of the 10th over off Suyash Sharma. SRH -94/2 .. interesting to see how the innings progresses!

Meanwhile.. Harry Brook has notched up his maiden IPL fifty!

KKR vs SRH : Powerplay Done!

The two big anticipated guns of IPL 2024 have impacted the powerplay. First it was Harry Brook with his fluent stroke making. Then the big Dre Russ striking twice in an over to dismiss Mayank and Tripathi. This is SRH’s best powerplay of the season. KKR would hope their spinners can strangle the batters here, although it isn’t expected to spin big on this wicket.

SRH – 65/2 (6 overs), Harry Brook (39 off 17) & Aiden Markram (1 off 2) at the crease. Dre Russ the pick of the bowlers so far with 2/11 (1 over).

Russell: The man with the golden arm!

The big Jamaican strikes with his first ball of the season. This was hitting the hard length on off, Agarwal backs away and tries to dab it past third but finds his hands. Dre Russ has struck straightaway! SRH – 46/1

And now he gets the inform Tripathi..! Two in the over for Dre Russ!! Short ball banged in the wicket, catches the top edge and falls in the keeper’s pouch!! SRH – 57/2.

Why didn’t KKR use his bowling skills all this while?..

Brooks come to the party!

And the 13.25 Cr man for SRH has arrived. Harry Brook has arrived at the IPL! This is what he is capable of, thrashing the bowlers. He has got off to a flyer here, racing off to 31 runs off 11 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. SRH are 43/0 after 3 overs.

Toss Update: Kolkata Knight Riders have won the toss and will bowl first

The pitch has taken me by surprise. Last game against RCB it was all about the spinners so I thought we would see a shaven pitch with a lot of grass but this pitch is hard and it will hold true. Someone like Umran Malik might enjoy this, and the rest of the pacers who could get good bounce on this wicket. But don’t ball short on this wicket, because the side boundaries are really short… Says Nick Knight in Pitch Report.

Build-up..

Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 19th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Follow this feed for KKR vs SRH, IPL 2024 Match 19 – Live Score and Update.

Both teams have recently triumphed. Both have recently been filled with confidence. KKR must figure out how to stay afloat without one-man shows. The Sunrisers must continue to perform to their potential, and quickly, because negative momentum may lead to a swift demise.

The Nitish Rana-led KKR started their season with a defeat, but they quickly rebounded with two consecutive victories and a solid Net Run Rate (NRR) of 1.375. On the other end of the scale, SRH opened their season with two consecutive losses before winning their most recent match against Punjab Kings.
