Kieron Pollard Retires From IPL as Mumbai Indians Release The 13-year Loyal Ahead of IPL 2023

One of the most loyal partnerships in IPL has diluted ahead of IPL 2023. Mumbai Indians have released one of the IPL greats, Kieron Pollard. And Kieron Pollard, in turn, has announced his retirement from IPL. Kieron Pollard has been critical in all victories of Mumbai Indians in IPL over the years. And MI has been the sole team to reap Pollard’s cricketing greatness. However, after a 13-year-long association, the franchise decided to part ways with the 35-year-old cricketer.

Kieron Pollard’s last season in IPL with Mumbai Indians went meek. The player failed to show his batting flair as the finisher, in turn, causing MI to fall in many matches. And now with Mumbai restoring young hitters like Dewald Brevis, and Tim David, Pollard’s spot in the squad seems covered. However, Pollard has now announced his retirement from the tournament avoiding any further association with a different team than Mumbai.

Announcing his retirement, Kieron Pollard exclusively stated having no resentment towards the team. Moreover, he specified that he can’t imagine to play in IPL with any other team except for MI. Expressing about his time withtge team, Pollard stated, “It hasn’t been the easiest decision to make as I will keep playing for a few more years, but I understand that this incredible franchise which has achieved so much needs to transition and if I’m no longer to play for MI then I cannot see myself playing against MI either. Once an MI always an MI. I am immensely proud, honoured and blessed to have represented the biggest and most successful team in the IPL for the past 13 seasons.”

Moreover, Pollard informed that he’ll be a part of the team in another capacity. The star batter will join the team as their batting coach. “This is not an emotional goodbye to MI however as I have agreed to take up the role of batting coach in the IPL as well as play with MI Emirates. The next chapter of my career is genuinely exciting and allows me to transition myself too from playing to coaching.”
