The number one ICC ODI & T20 cricketer and Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam recently got to face heavy criticism for his controversial tweet. Recently, Azam led the Pakistani team in the historic series at home against Australia. The hosts managed to win the ODI series but lost the Test and T20 series. As Babar has a massive following among the youth, popular brands often rope him in for various brand promotional events and advertisements.

On April 8, Babar Azam posted a black and white photo of himself holding an automatic gun. Where he was promoting the mobile game ‘FreeFire’.

He posted, “Something very exciting coming up with @FreefirePkyt! Stay tuned to find out more about my next big collaboration with world’s most downloaded battle royale game. #FreeFireXBabarShadab”.

Some comically took his tweet, while the majority of the netizens said that Babar is a national icon and acts like posing with a gun promotes violence and sends a wrong message to the youth. The Pakistani Skipper should be more responsible in the way he promotes businesses on social media. The matter got so heated up that Pakistani anchor Sikander Bakht even demanded PCB’s intervention in this matter.
