With the IPL beginning in full throttle yesterday, the first-afternoon game was kickstarted as the Delhi Capitals took on the Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets. Lalit Yadav smashed 48 not out off 38 balls down the order as DC chased down the target of 178 with 10 balls to spare.
Axar Patel also chipped in with a 17-ball 38 not out, while opener Prithvi Shaw contributed 38. For MI, Basil Thampi took three wickets for 35 runs. Ishan Kishan showed immense maturity as he anchored Mumbai Indians innings to a fighting 177/5 with an unbeaten 81 against Delhi Capitals

Delhi won the toss and decided to bowl. MI’s opening pair gave the team a good start. Kuldeep in the eighth over gave MI the first blow. Yadav took the big wicket of the Hitman as he departed for 41. Yadav’s another blow hit Mumbai in the tenth over with the dismissal of Anmolpreet Singh. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan proving his price tag showed phenomenal cricketing skills anchoring Mumbai’s innings. He made an unbeaten 81 hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes. Delhi opened the innings but couldn’t settle in well. They lost two quick wickets of Tim Seifert and Mandeep Singh in the third over to Murugan Ashwin. Next over the DC captain, Pant too departed for 4. On the other hand, Prithvi Shaw seemed to be in good touch today hitting 38 runs with 4 fours and 2 sixes. But he too departed in the ninth over. DC’s run chase was in a fuss with Powell going for a duck. But Delhi’s Lalit Yadav came as a saviour for the Capitals as he hit a match winning knock of 48*. Supported by Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel’s cameo of 22 and 38 respectively, DC got past the target with 4 wickets to spare.
