MS Dhoni has stepped down as skipper of Chennai Super Kings(CSK) and has handed over the captaincy role to Ravindra Jadeja. MS Dhoni has been the skipper of the CSK franchise since the league’s inception in 2008. He is also the second most successful captain in the history of the league. Captain Cool has led his team to four IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021, respectively. He also led the CSK side to two titles in 2010 and 2014 in the now-defunct Champions League Twenty20. Being undoubtedly the most successful and loved Indian Skipper across formats MS will surely be missed at the toss and the presentation area during the matches.
IPL 2022 will only be the second IPL season wherein MS Dhoni would not be seen leading a team. This is after Dhoni represented the Rising Pune Supergiant (RPSG) as a player during the 2017 season under the leadership of former Australian skipper Steve Smith.
“MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond,”

Super King’s New King
Ravindra Jadeja for the first time will dawn the role of a skipper in IPL. This will make Jadeja only the third captain of the CSK, after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina (who deputed in the absence of MS Dhoni). Ravindra Jadeja has always been MS Dhoni’s go-to man when he needed to break a partnership and the left-armer has delivered the goods on many occasions. His presence gives Dhoni the extra cushion of playing an additional batsman if needed. Jadeja has been an enigma right since his advent in international cricket.
CSK’s Campaign begins as the season opener at Wankhede where CSK will take on KKR on March 26.
