The 15th edition of the Indian Premiere League has come to an end after two month of fierce competition. Gujarat Titans defeated RR by 7 wickets. Hardik Pandya’s team has been looking unstoppable since the first game and RR only acted as a catalyst for them to grab the Trophy in the final contest. The IPL has gotten new winner after 5 years and it couldn’t be better than a new franchise lifting the Trophy in its debut season. IPL 2022 Award Winners
RR skipper Sanju Samson took the Runners up Trophy on behalf of the team and a cash prize of INR 12.5 crores. Both teams from the Final jointly won the Fair Play Award.
Orange Cap
Jos Buttler won the Orange Cap for scoring 863 runs in 17 matches at a strike rate of over 149. In addition, he smashed 4 centuries to equal most centuries in an IPL edition.
Purple Cap
RR’s Yuzvendra Chahal picked 27 wickets in 17 matches to win the Purple Cap 2022. Moreover, this is the highest number of wickets by a spinner in an IPL season.
Super Striker of the Season
Dinesh Karthik had a helluva comeback. He smashed 330 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 183.3. He wins a TATA Punch Car along with the Prize money.
Emerging Player of the Season
A plethora of young talented players have left a mark this IPL. However, the speedster Umran Malik moved world cricket with his pace. Although Tilak Varma (397 runs) and Abhishek Sharma (426 runs) were in the race, Umran Malik was named the Emerging Player. Malik has picked 22 wickets in 14 matches. And has bowled highest at 153 kmph. Although throughout the season he was the one with the fastest delivery, Ferguson bowled an even faster delivery in the IPL Final.
Fastest delivery of the season
Lockie Ferguson was awarded with the fastest delivery of the season for bowling 157.3 kmph in the IPL 2022 Final.
