Road Ahead for Teams
While bottom three teams- England, New Zealand, and Bangladesh are out of the run for the final berth. Whereas, West Indies has a very tough chance to stay in the running. Although they have two Test series remaining in their bag, both of them are away and against mighty Australia and South Africa. The West Indies can finish on 65.38%, though would have to win all four matches in tough away conditions to seal an unlikely place in the WTC23 final.
Moreover, the top two teams, Australia and South Africa are ready to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship any moment now. They still have to surpass the biggest hurdles. While Australia will look to produce some positive results during the next year’s tour of India. A 2-1 loss to England away from home saw the Proteas lose the top spot on the ICC World Test Championship standings. Their away series against Australia will be crucial to the fortunes of both sides.
The Asian Sub-Continent of the ICC World Test Championship standings
While Sri Lanka is seemingly well-placed to reach the WTC23 final, they will require everything to go their way if they are to qualify for the decider. India will tour Bangladesh and then play against Australia on home soil. Moreover, Pakistan is languishing in fifth place on the current standings, they do have the luxury of playing all their remaining five Test matches on home soil.
And there is still a chance that the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan could meet in the World Test Championship finals, both teams have everything go their way in the upcoming months.
