There is no bigger rivalry in world cricket than the two Asian giants, India and Pakistan. After the forgetful T20 world cup match last year, India and Pakistan met on 28th August in Asia Cup’s second match. India avenged the World cup’s loss by winning the game by five wickets. Talking of viewership, more than 13 million people watched the Asia Cup live on Disney+Hotstar, the event’s official broadcaster in India. While 13 million Pakistanis actively used the Daraz app.
Being placed in different groups, there is a high chance that the two teams will face each other thrice within 15 days. After their first clash, which happened on Sunday, now let’s understand the scheme of things. Both the groups in Asia Cup will have a qualifying member. It is expected that India and Pakistan will finish as the top two teams in their group (both beating the qualifying team). And thus march into final.
Many Indo-Pak clashes this year
As there is no semi-final, all the top four teams in Super 4s will take on each other. This means that India and Pakistan will play each other for the second time in the competition. If all goes well and the two sides qualify for the final, they will be up against each other for the third time.
The Asia Cup 2022 finale will be played on 11th September at the iconic Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Given the Asia Cup being held in the shortest format of the game. This will act as a dress rehearsal for the 2022 T20 World Cup. The T20 world cup to be held in Australia in October-November this year. So Buckle up India and Pakistan will shake hands quite a few times in the coming days.
