Former India captain and BCCI President Saurav Ganguly has denied being part of the upcoming second edition of Legends League Cricket tournament. His clarification came minutes after the tournament organisers had issued a press release, claiming that the former India skipper will be a part of the league.
All this fuss began after the tournament organisers released a statement. The statement quoted Ganguly saying, “It is going to be a lot of fun playing with other legends”.
Sourav Ganguly told NDTV: “No, I am not going to be a part of Legends League Cricket. The news isn’t true.”

Season 2 full of yesteryears cricket stars
Despite Ganguly not taking part in the upcoming league, several prominent cricketers of yesteryears will be seen in action. It will be a tournament to reminisce childhood cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Shane Watson, Eoin Morgan, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Muttiah Muralidaran and Monty Panesar as they all have confirmed their participation.
Earlier this month Virendra Sehwag, Pathan brothers Yusuf and Irfan confirmed their participation. A week later Harbhajan Singh, former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, Dinesh Ramdin and Lendl Simmons too had confirmed their participation in the tournament.
Raman Raheja, co-founder, and CEO of Legends League Cricket said on Harbhajan’s joining Season 2 of the league:
“with great excitement we welcome Harbhajan to the team. We missed him due to Covid in January and now looking forward to experiencing the magic of his spin bowling on the field again.”
“After the confirmations from Harbhajan, Mortaza, Simmons, and Ramdin, who all are international legends of the game, it surely adds to the octane energy for Season 2 of the league.”
Further, Raman added,
Several prominent cricketers are participating in the league so the matches are expected to be thrilling ones. With their favourite cricketers returning to ground, fans are very excited.
