ICC Under-19 World Cup is a biennial cricket event that is played by national under-19 teams. This tournament was first contested in 1998 back when it was called Youth World Cup. The 2022 edition is the 14th edition of the tournament. The final was played between England U19 vs India U19. The England team had put a not-so-competitive total of 189 runs on board. It was the brilliant bowling by Raj Bawa and Ravi Kumar, they took 4 and 5 wickets respectively. Because of this performance, India could contain runs against England. Easily, India chased down this total. However, the early wicket of the in-form batsman Agriksh Raghuvanshi slowed down India’s innings a bit. India U19 won the match by 4 wickets. 3. Pakistan U19

Pakistan 2006 title

Pakistan U19 team won its first title in 2004 defeating West Indies by 25 runs. The team was led by Khalid Latif. Moreover, the famous Pakistani bowler Wahab Riaz of the U-19 WC winning squad of 2004. They won the very next season too, defeating India in the final. Pakistan scored a meager 109 runs, a win looking a very far possibility. However, Pakistani bowlers ended India’s innings at 71 runs in 18.5 overs itself. Pakistan defeated India by 38 runs. However, the Indian side was not at all weak. Current big, important names of the Indian Cricket team like Rohit Sharma, Chesteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, and Piyush Chawala were playing the final. Also, Pakistan is the only team to win the titles back-to-back in two consecutive editions.

2. Australia U19

Australia 2010 Under 19 World Cup titles

Australia won the inaugural title in 1988 defeating Pakistan in the final match. They won the match by 5 wickets, wrapping Pakistani players at only 201 runs. Brett Williams’ 108 played a huge role in Australia’s win. The next time Australia entered the finals was in 2002. They made the trophy theirs again in 2002, defeating South Africa by chasing down 206 runs in 45.1 overs only. Also, Australia had 7 wickets in hand. It was again Australia U19 vs Pakistan U-19 in the 2010 edition’s final match. Australia had put a total of 207 runs on board. On the other hand, they limited Pakistan by picking all their wickets at only 182 runs. Resultantly, Australia won by 25 runs. The 2010 team was led by Mitchelle Marsh. Moreover, at two other instances where Australia had played the finals, India had won the title.

India has been playing the tournament since its inception in 1988. This team is the most successful with a total of 5 titles. The first time India had taken the trophy in its hands was possible under the captaincy of the legendary cricketer, Mohammad Kaif in 2000. India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the final match. India won the 2008 edition by defeating South Africa under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Other important players like Ravindra Jadeja, Manish Pandey, and Saurabh Tiwary were also a part of the 2008 squad. India U19 won the title twice again in 2012 and 2018 under the captaincies of Unmukt Chand and Prithvi Shaw respectively. Both 2012 and 2018 WC were played against Australia. In addition, the 2018 squad had familiar names like Shubhman Gill, Riyan Parag, Shivam Mavi, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. This led to India defeating Australia by 6 wickets. The very recent edition of ICC U19 WC in 2022 was again won by the Indian Team led by Yash Dhull.
