10. Zimbabwe registered its biggest win by 228 runs

In the 6th match, Zimbabwe has scored a total of 321 runs. Emmanuel Bawa had scored a century, while David Bennett scored 58 runs. Other important contributions were from Panashe Taruvinga, Connor Mitchelle, and Victor Chirwa. When Papua New Guinea started chasing, their wickets went down real quick. The team lost all their wickets scoring only 93 runs. While most individual scores were in single digits, the highest score was 15. Zimbabwe won the match by 228 runs, this being their biggest win by margin.

In a match against Uganda U19, India batting first had put 405 runs on board. Angriksh Raghuvanshi scored 144 runs in 120 balls. While Raj Bawa scored an unbeaten record-breaking 162 runs, hitting 14 fours and 8 sixes. Because of the exceptional bowling by Nishant Sandhu, taking 4 wickets, India dominated the opposition. Raj Bawa took 3 wickets too. Resultantly, Uganda could only manage to score 79 runs in 19.4 overs. India won the match by a whopping margin of 326 runs. This is the highest margin with which Indian U19 team has won the match.

In the fifth place match against Sri Lanka, captain Qasim Akram became the first person to score a 100 and take a five-wicket haul in a match. Noone had achieved this feat before Qasim in the U19 World Cup. Qasim scored an unbeaten 135 runs odd 80 deliveries. Later with his off-spin, he took 5 wickets giving only 37 runs in his ten overs. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 127, leading to Pakistan’s win by a margin of 238 runs. Qasim also became the first captain to do so.

7. Dewald Brevis broke the record for most sixes in a single tournament

This 18-year-old has performed exceptionally well in the tournament, breaking so many records on his way. Dewald Brevis had smashed a total of 18 sixes in U19 WC 2022. This is the highest number of sixes by an individual in a single edition of the World Cup.

While he was busy scoring runs, he would not have noticed creating a record like this. Brevis was busy smashing the ball out of the stadium in fours and sixes. Along with, he made a record for playing most balls in a single World Cup edition. He had played a total of 561 in U19 WC 2022.

5. Dewald Brevis tied the most consecutive 50+ scores

Baby AB also achieved a joint record for scoring most fifties in a tournament. In 5 out of 6 innings he scored 50+ runs, with 2 centuries as well. Hitting 5 half-centuries in a tournament was earlier achieved by India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubhman Gill, and Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan. Dewald Brevis had an average of 84.33 in the tournament. He had smashed 45 fours and 18 sixes.

4. Dewald Brevis broke record for most runs in single U19 WC edition

His run-making spree in this tournament led him to break Shikhar Dhawan’s 13-year-old record. Shikhar had scored a total of 505 runs in the 2004 edition, the highest score by an individual in a single edition of the World Cup. Dewald Brevis went on to score 506 runs in the tournament, breaking the record by 1 run.

3. Raj Bawa broke the record for the highest score in an innings by an Indian

It was on January 22, 2022, against Uganda U19 that Raj Bawa surpassed Shikar Dhawan’s record. Shikhar Dhawan had scored 155 runs in the 2004 U19 WC, this was the highest individual score until this edition. Raj Bawa scored 162 runs off 108 deliveries, becoming the highest individual run-scorer in a match. This led to India winning the match with a huge margin of 326 runs.

2. Raj Bawa became first Indian to take 5 wickets in ICC final event

In the final match, Raj Bawa finished with the best bowling figures in the history of the U19 World Cup final. His spell of giving only 31 runs, while taking 5 wickets, is the best by any team in the final. England lost the final by 4 wickets. In the inaugural match against SA, Raj had taken a four-wicket haul. Raj also becomes the first Indian to take a 5-wicket haul in a final match of an ICC event.

1. India became the first nation to win 5 titles

Winning the final by 4 wickets against the England U19 team, India extended their dominance in the tournament. India won its fifth ICC under-19 World Cup. India has established clear dominance with the second team on the list being Australia with only 3 wins. Their first win came in 2000, defeating Sri Lanka under the captaincy of Mohammad Kaif. Out of the total 14 editions, India made it to 8 finals. The 2022 tournament was their 3 consecutive final, of which they won two. The Indian U19 team won the titles in 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018. India won 4 of these titles remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament.
