Why Sports Quota?
The Indian Navy understands that those persons who are interested in sports and represented the country in some big events do not have much time for studies. So for these persons, Indian Navy came up with Sports quota. The Indian Navy invites applications from unmarried male candidates for the posts of Petty Officers, Senior Secondary Recruitment and Matric Recruitment. The recruitment for the above posts comes twice in a year. Those candidates who are fulfilling the eligibility criteria and willing to work for the country can take part in the recruitment.
Sports Quota in Indian Navy – Eligibility
- Outstanding sportsmen who have participated at international/ Junior or Senior Level Championship/ Senior State Level Championship.
- Sportsmen who have participated in All India inter level University Championship are also preferred.
- Sportsmen from all the fields are preferred. Cricket, Boxing, Basketball, Weight Lifting; to name a few.
Educational Qualifications for Direct Entry
Petty Officer
- Candidate passed 10+2 in any stream.
- Team Games – Candidate should have participated at International/National/ State Level. Or a participant has represented a University in the Inter University Tournament.
- Individual Events – Candidates should have attained a minimum of 6th position in Nationals(seniors). 3rd Position in National(juniors). Or 3rd position in Inter University
- Age Criteria – Minimum 17 to Maximum 22 years.
Senior Secondary Recruitment
- Candidate passed 10+2 in any stream.
- Games – Candidates should have participated at National/ International/ State Level or represented a University in the Inter University Tournament.
- Age Criteria – Minimum 17 to Maximum 21.
Matric Recruitment
- Candidates passed 10th standard.
- Games – Candidates should have participated in National/ International/ State Level Tournaments.
What is the selection process under Sports quota?
Deserving candidates would be called to appear for trials at designated Naval Centers. Candidates who will qualify for the trials will undergo a medical test. The offer of enrolment will be forwarded to the selected candidates only.

Indian Navy Sailor Recruitment 2021
Indian Navy has released a recruitment for the above mentioned posts some days back. This will be a great opportunity who are interested in the job profile and are fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
Interested candidates can apply to the posts on or before 25 December 2021.
Selection Procedure
- Application will be received only through ORDINARY POST. Application received through speed post/ registered post or couriers will be rejected.
- Short-listing criteria will be based on higher sports achievements.
- Call up letters to eligible short-listed candidates will be posted.
- All original certificates and mark sheets are to be produced at the time of selection trial.
- The select list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all respects depending up on the available vacancies in particular sports disciplines.
- All selected candidates will also be forwarded for Police Verification. Those who failed to do the police verification will not be eligible for enrolment.
